The first numbers in your case L628 is the week, 28th week of 06, The next letter either a B or an A is another thing. B tends to overclock better then A but A is promarily in the sates and B is destined for europe and such

wow nice job with that ammo, lol never thought you could do that with one. I might take a page out of your book and take my hard drive bracket out, and put my hard drives the other 3.5" bays. (where the floppy drive goes)

That way I get positive pressure.

Thanks! It's kind of a tight fit with all the hardware I use + the w/c setup, but I really dig how it looks when it's all buttoned up... Kinda like a control unit for some kind of futuristic military weapon

Trying to get the wiring looking good is a major chore with this box. I'd welcome the advice & comments from anyone with some experience doing custom, clean wiring jobs. I need all the help I can get!

As far as airflow goes, I've never had airflow probs with this case. I personally like having all the fans blowing in, due to the major-sized vents in the side panel. With filters on the fans, it REALLY keeps the dust down inside.

UPDATE:

I'll be picking up my new Seagate 320GB HDDs today after work, and I just bought the remaining stuff I need to finish the build.

Danger Den Maze4 Chipset Water Block

Danger Den Maze 4 GPU Low Profile Waterblock

Swiftech MC14 BGA RAMsinks

Spectrum Card Cooler

I should have it finished this weekend!

Default Start & Restart

Well, After looking at different ways to wire my rig, I realized some heavy cutting to the case was in order.

My new best friends

So now I've removed the mobo, PSU, and most everything else in the case. I mapped out some areas that I'll be drilling & nibbling out holes for various wiring, and running them behind the mobo and wherever else I can do it out of sight.

I'll add more pictures after I start chewing on it tomorrow.

In the meantime, I decided to lose the stock cooler on my new X1900GT.

The usual suspects.

I decided on the Maze4 GPU mostly because I have had good luck with Danger Den so far. Don't see a good reason to go with a different company when I know DD stuff works.

Good stuff here

Closeup of the Acetal top of the Maze4 GPU

Impressive finish, coming straight from the box, I think.

And here's our victim now!

Stock cooler retainer.

Not as big a frame buffer as I'm used to, but it should do the job

I've only used full coverage blocks in the past, so RAM cooling wasn't a problem. This time I didn't have that going for me, so I decided to get some good ramsinks.

Our victim, stripped of the stock cooler retainer.

And now we see beneath the veil.

A little 91% alcohol, and it comes clean nicely.

And here's the R580 core in all it's glory.

Lack of forethought on my part brought me to this... The low profile of the Maze4 GPU + the tall RAMsinks = Interference! I decided to trim down the pins on the RAMsinks that went under the input & output fittings on the block. I know it will reduce the effectiveness of the RAMsinks, but with enough air flow, it will still be far better than nothing at all.

I found this little setup, and it looks to be a good matchup with the waterblock + RAMsinks. It's adjustable, and throws a good amount of air.

And here's the finished product.

This shows the extent I had to trim the RAMsinks to make room for the tubing to the block.

Tomorrow, we nibble!!!!

Any wiring gurus out there? I've seen Sladesurfer's rig (and am duly impressed). Anyone else out there have some suggestions on how to make my wiring job as neat, hidden, and hopefully as painless as possible?

Dremel the mobo tray, just not over the supporting holes, and obviously not setting the holes free.
Get all your PSU cables behind the mobo, but Sladesurfer has a special PSU, which has cables which can make 180's easier.

Cool, that was pretty much what I had in mind. I just bought a set of tools to remove & reattach the connectors on my PCP&C Silencer 750, so I won't have to make huge holes, just ones big enough for the wiring itself, not the connectors.

I'm wishing now that I would have gotten extra long SATA cables. Probably would have been easier to route them.

UPDATE:

HAL officially LIVES!

I finished assembly last night & got Winblows installed. It took me about a half hour to get the RAID array working as a boot drive. The RAID setup in the BIOS worked perfectly, but the supplied RAID drivers for Winblows didn't want to play nice... Had to d/l new ones from Gigabytes website. After that, had no problems configuring & partitioning the new array.

Leak test went perfect... No leaks anywhere. The wiring job doesn't look too bad (especially compared to my last few rigs ), but sladesurfer has nothing to worry about from me, LOL.

Be warned, if you ever want to route a PCP&C Silencer 750 behind the mobo, you'll need steady hands, patience, skill, and most of all, VALIUM! That was easily the biggest pain in the @$$ I've ever had to endure during a build.

I'm at work right now, so I don't have any pics at the moment, but I'll post some tonight after I get home.
