I am more than happy with the GPU of a X1800 XT... it is faster than 7900 gt and much faster than an x1800 gto unless you hack the GTO, but the prices of these 3 cards are nearly the same range +/- 20 dollars or so. Also, the x1800xt smokes the gto and 7900gs in this benchmark. I will mainly be playing Source, Doom 3, FEAR, PREY, Hellgate London (sooo pumped up), and other worth while games.

OCZ is deffinitly a good consideration.
The HDDS will be in RAID 0 for WinXP, applications, and games, with a beast 500+ gb later down the line to hold large amounts of data.

ok...

I am going to change the RAM to the OCZ previously stated.
P5b-e instead of ds3...

p180 black instead of that case

and an antec phantom or ocz 700w

should i go for e6300 or e6600?

is the double in price worth the extra OC potential?

Swamp Man, it sounds like you're doing exactly what I'm doing. I want a 3.0+ machine for similar price, mostly for Elder Scrolls Oblivion, and this is my first overclock experiment too. I don't know whether I should piggyback your thread or start my own though, but I'll be watchin' either way

The E6300 can hit 3.5GHz easily. Go for it.

ok I have seen some ddr2 900+ and higher ram for the same price as ddr2 800

how come it appears that high quality ddr2 800 will help the mobo and everything else OC better than a similar or lower quality ddr2 900 or 1066 etc...

and when I start overclocking, what are the temperatures I need to be aiming for.

I will be using the big typhoon unless someone can reference me to a solid link to a tuniq tower. BTW they all work the same pretty much... anyways

the golden range and upper limits of temperature for the following parts:

e6300 or e6600 (depends on how much money i get for xmas ) using BT HS and TAT sensor
7900 GT gpu and memory (getting ThermalTake HR-03 and RAM heatsink)
ddr2 ram (TWIN XMS2 1024 or 512 or 2x TWIN XMS 256)
northbridge (p5b-d g965) (should i get new cooler on these?)
southbridge (p5b)
case (p180b) (yey! so nice looking)
hard drive (raptor(boot and programs/games) and 7200.10 or caviar(music and video))

Well here is your tuniq tower. Link

50 to 55C Load are the maximum temps you should stay within range up. Like the setup though! I'd get a new NB cooler just cuz I like the look of pure copper but its not really needed. Can't answer your RAM question though sorry!

If you guys need to buy a computer that has already proven itself, I need to sell my computer. It is at 3.4Ghz right now and I am trying for 3.6Ghz soon. I have the tuniq tower 120. I also have Crucial 10Th Anniversary edition DDR2 667 right now at DDR2 974 speeds. I will be able to get DDR2 1000 soon. Let me know if you would like to buy my computer. If you need some good feedback, PM me and I will give you my eBay id. 100% positive there.

Are you allowed to post a thread in the for sale section? If not, don't advertise your stuff...
