Default Help stabilize E6300/965P-S3 rig plz

Hi I want to get my temps down to 40 on idle and 55max at load.

Now, I have
idle 45~47
load 55~59.. 60

I have it at
410.0*7 = 2870 MHz
and 1:1 RAM Ratio with timings 5/6/6/17
vcore 1.2
vRAM 1.9 i think..

I have BIOS F6 and my fan is Freezer 7 Pro
My left core on TAT is 0~3 degrees higher than the right core.
Could this be the AS5 ?
I can't say that I didn't move the heatsink after attaching it to the chip.

I corrected this problem before by change some BIOS settings for the CPU fan. (Legacy using PWM). But now the temps have gone up again.. Maybe I should remount T_T Some comments please.

Also I don't know how to change the RAM timing. And is there a program for controlling/monitoring CPU RPM?

I also have a System Fan Face on the Motherboard but can't seem to find the right fan for it. None of my fans have the same face.

I wouldn't worry too much about one core being hotter than the other. The temp sensor could just be reading wrong. For fan monitoring, download speedfan here. It's a nifty little tool, though ignore the tempature readings, since they are normally off.

For changing the ram timings, that's in your bios in your advanced options, where you set your CPU's FSB. It's probably on default (or by SPD), change it to manual adjustments, and a new field of all your memory timings should pop up.

I would try to get those temps down before raising the vcore. Btw, 1.2v is basically stock for that processor. I would recommend upping the vcore if those temps come down. Btw, how much AS5 did you put on? If you caked it on (more than a pea sized drop), this is only going to hurt your temps.

I have the exact same cooler and the same chip, so maybe I can be of some assistance.... I stuck with the stock paste though.

Legacy using PWM issue: Set it to "DISABLED". This will make the fan run at full speed all the time... I also found that plugging the cooler into SYS_FAN was better.

Frankly, I just think you have a bad AS5 application. That voltage is crazy low (Stock is 1.325, I used to manage 1.2875 w/ an OC at 3.01GHz.

Make sure you apply the correct amount of as5, align the cooler in the holes for the push-pins, apply pressure on the top of the heatsink while pushing the pins down, and be confident that the pins are securly in. I had to use a very good amount of force for them to push through, just don't push so hard that you slip and hit a capacitor or something.

I'm doing 54 load in TAT, that should be your benchmark. For reference I do about 50 with Orthos dual prime and less than 47 with folding.

Try reseating the Heatsink

Jimmy

EDIT: For the ram timings, you have to press Ctrl+F1 at the main bios page, then go to advanced settings.

The stock paste that was on the Freezer was a lot. I put on about the size of a rice. Should I try a little more? And I still dont get how the legs work for the freezer. You're supposed to the turn it once it is through the board? Anyways I'll try remounting and come back for replies. Thanks.

Don't put on more than a rice grain, that's pleanty. Anyways, they should go through and click once. Do one side, and then the diagnal side. Go all the way around and make sure there isn't any loose connections.

Cool the fan's Legacy->Disable option has the cpu fan going faster. And the heatsink is seated again. I'm maxing at 57/56, 100% using TAT on 2.9GHz (5 minutes). I raised the vcore to 1.23. Around 44 45 idle.

I'll check the timings now.

5/5/5/12 and upto 1.3V
Temps are 59~60 for CPU0 and 55~57 for CPU1.
I should lower the vcore or speeds?
What else can I do to go higher? Man I'm such a noob he he
It seems that's my limit unless I lower the vcore substantially.

Humm, raise the FSB, and lower the vcore I guess, untill you run into problems. Next step is to invest into some better cooling.

I think it's stable now. Although the CPU 0 is at most 3 degrees higher than the CPU 1 sometimes, it is still max 56 at load.

CPU @ 2.94GHz (7 x 420MHz)
idle temp: 39~40
load temp: 51~56
1:1 Ratio with 5:5:5:12 timings
CPU voltage is 1.2

I think the temps will go down 2~3 degrees when the compound is set. I reseated the HSF again last night.

Here is the CPU-Z validation
