Budget, but good card: eVGA 256-P2-N615-TX GeForce 7600GT 256MB GDDR3 $124.99 - $20 MIB = $104.99 (don't get anything worse than a 7600GT) A little bit more: SAPPHIRE 100189L Radeon X1900GT 256MB GDDR3 $134.99 eVGA 256-P2-N624-AR GeForce 7900GS 256MB GDDR3 $179.99 - $20 MIR = $159.99 What I would get  : SAPPHIRE 100176L Radeon X1950PRO 256MB GDDR3 $199.99

Although I generally don't pay much attention to Newegg reviews, you might have a point here. I poked around a little, and it seems that specific card is prone to overheating.

Ok Im going to use my current intel prccesor its a crappy 2.66ghz P4 but it will save me some $$ right off the start and use xmas money to get me a 6700 or 6800

If you can afford an X6800, you're a fool if you don't get the QX6700 quad core instead. They're the same price, both have unlocked multis, but it's the difference between 2 and 4 cores. I call that a no-brainer.
