I'll try that...is the foam stuff that the mobo came in safe to run on? If not what else can I use?

When I installed the tuniq, I never removed the protective paper from the sticky patch (I don't like things stuck to my mobo.... ) It works just fine, and the backplate is just held in place by the screws that hold the TT also. No problems, and no messy stickiness to deal with when I remove it again.
Quote:
Just put it all up like that, connect all power chords and the few things I mentioned. Then, use a screwdriver to short the power pins and it should boot up.

My backplate lost most of it's stickiness because I removed it so many times.
I'd have thought that Tuniq would have included some sort of insulation on the backplate though..

Yeah, they should have put that foam over the whole X shaped thing.

Alright, well I put the mobo on the black foam and placed it inside my case. Same result. Is there still a possibility that it is a short or do you think something might be damaged? I wish there was an easier way to determine the specific problem.

Try the outside of case trick.

Well, right now it's only 'in the case' as in resting on top of foam inside the case. It isn't in contact with any of the case or spacers with the exception of the power/pc speaker pins right now.

So, this is how my processor looked while it was still working, but I was curious if it could cause any problems.
__________________http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/3197/p1090035ad2.jpg Sorry about the crappy picture (I suck with cameras) but the two different pin points in the middle/bottom have a slight bit of grey to them instead of being only gold. Is that bad? As I said, I think it looked like this after my second seating and it did end up working for a while after that.

Is that gray by any chance some thermal paste or so? If so, try very gently and carefully to remove it. Also, check the pins of the mobo.

First things first.
__________________POST!!!!!!!!!! Second, how the frickity frack did thermal paste get on the bottom of my CPU?! Never the less, in middle yet not the sides. Anyway, going to try using the backplate / spacers again. Wish me luck! PS: ![]() -EDIT- Back up and running 100%. Temps are great (32/42) and well, just happy to have my computer working again.
