with the clamshell that the vapochill uses it was near impossible to see if it was making good contact or not i did run it for about 30-40 minutes last night no signs of visible condensation but who knows whats going on where i cant see. im pretty sure i greased it up good
and ive got 2 heaters hooked up to it.. one around the base of the clamshell and one on the backside of the motherboard.. i also greased the back of the board around the metal plate and about an inch or so in all directions.. it was a lot harder to do that on the socket side.. but i did my best to fill all the gaps of the socket and smeared around in spots i could get to... i think im gonna install sandra sisoft pro and hit a bench mark or two while at stock with windows vista.. im not gonna run aquas or any 3dmark stuff since i have a really bad video card.. and please remember these benches are done with slow harddrives running ide

here are stock cpu and mem benches off sisoft ..i ran a super pi run.. either my mem is wacked right now or vista is insane on what it uses because i ran a stock 30 second time.. when i was on xp i was popping off low to mid 20's
![]() ![]() ![]() my pi time at these stock settings as 30.780 seconds .. horrible i think .. next set of benchmarks will be a mild overclock im going to hit the 2997 range or roughtly 3ghz and see what kind of difference this will make..

since this is my build log im gonna double or even tripple post..
anyway i see a huge vcore droop right now.. im bouncing from 1.213 to 1.404 that is sick i do not like that at all.. and i think im gonna be really ticked off if i have to droop mod this board i havnt seen anyone mention anything about it... i have all the speed stepping and all that new fancy thermal crap turned off on the motherboard .. unless vista has something to do with it i dont no.. i didnt see a droop like that in xp anyway i tighted my timings on the the ram from 5-5-5-18 to 3-4-3-12 and ran pi this time i clocked in at just a hair over 20 seconds which is about where i was before on xp with a 4-4-4-12 setting.. 20.312 vs 19.469 ... so its almost the same.. im sure there is more tweaking i can do .. right now i dont want to do much since that huge droop could cuase major problems while stressing the cpu.. oh yea this droop is at idle.. yea .. idle.. it doesnt change while stressing but still thats a huge droop .. i did run a sisoft bench .. and it killed the stock setting.. i beat out the x6800 that was posted not by much but i did beat it these will be the last set of benches i post for now till i get done with my fineal tweaking this is just a befor mid and after kinda deal.. of course if you guys ask for a certain test ill be more then happy to give it run for ya i also noted a vast improvment on my ram scores too .. i will probably not get to my fineal mark untill i get better cooling for my northbridge since it runs really really hot to the touch and i think im gonna want to put more voltage through it too ... ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIT: correction the vcore .. at idle it seems to stay stable at 1.213 the bios setting is 1.450 its when i do something it bounces to 1.404 and back to 1.213

This is not a droop, but a processor feature.

its the C1E in your advanced cpu settings in bios, when it is enabled it runs the proc at a lower voltage at low load and at the highest set voltage either 1.325 or what ever you set in bios under full load, its really pretty cool for lower oc's
i had my 6400 oced to 3.5 with it on and it would hold it at idle with 1.22 vcore and at load i had it set in bios at 1.60 and it would jump up to that i turned it off because i didnt know whether it was any good for my chip or not jumping voltages like that

yea i couldnd find the c1e options.. i saw a cia2 and some other speed and thermal stuff. but i did make a mistake .. i when i loaded it .. it didnt bounce as bad i stared at the display for a good 10 minutes to see what it was doing.. i really dont like the idea of it jumping that many volts too.. as i may have to push it up to 1.5 - 1.65 at some point .. thanks for the input guys..

here is a screen.. im sure this isnt stable YET .. but i just wanted to see if i could get it to post up.. the ram timings are loose and pi hit just over 18 seconds.. i guess that extra 2 meg cache on the conroe cores really eat up the super pi.. once i solve my issues with the phase system im sure this will be very stable .. and an even higher over clock.. im excited i cant wait for this weekend when ill have more time to work on it like lapping the cpu.. and changing out the northbridge heatsink (if i can find one at the local bestbuy that is) and doing something with all these damn wires..

good job so far man, what voltage are you suppling that thing, ive got mine at 390x9 with 1.47 vcore so far, seems pretty stable so far, had it at 390x9 with 1.44 vcore but it rebooted while i was at work so had to jump it up a bit
by the way what week is yours, mine is 40A i think

good deal, the week is on the box or its on the cpu, yeah sounds good get that thing lapped and try again plus itll give you a chance to see if you got the mounting right and all that good stuff
yeah i have not had anymroe temp problems like i did the first time i mounted this thing, all my temps seem to be doing what i expected them too which is king of weird because the thing is mounted just like it was before maybe it was because the bios i am running now supports this cpu, could be the difference maybe
