These types of things usually fail, I wouldn't do it. Overclocking would be a bad idea too.

All of that security wouldn't stop someone from deleting a system file...

This sounds very expensive... did someone win the lottery?

EDIT: I don't think going RAID0 on Raptor drives would be a big increase in game performance... go with cheaper 7200.10 drives, they are nice

I think its a great idea. Too bad I live in FL though.... I wouldn't OC them though. They will already be fast enough anyway.

What types of things usually fail? Internet gaming cafes? There are none in the city of Chicago. Xactek in Shaumburg does extremely well. A place by my house called Challenger's Hub does pretty well, too.

We think this will do great - and that is why we are investing time and money.

They could always install DeepFreeze where the system restores to the same state after every reboot.

They have it installed in most of the schools and libraries that I know of.

My first post said that we are using "SmartLaunch" software. This makes it so people can't restart / power on any of the computers. I'm not going to enable the power switches on the computers. Everything will be Wake On Lan. The SmartLaunch doesn't allow anyone to change settings - only to personalize. It's very nice software, it implements hours and everything. You can download a trial at their website, google SmartLaunch.

Network security is my specialty - no worries there. If anyone is wondering, we are going to limit bandwidth on each computer to the external internet to about 1mbps. Internally it will be unlimited, but we don't want video hogs. As for a firewall, we are going to DUAL WAN T1s with pfSense - an open source FreeBSD firewall. It has amazing net stacks and works very well under extreme conditions. As for a server where we are going to install several different game servers (CS, CS:S, etc, etc), we have Dual Xeons with 4GB of RAM running Fedora Core XX. The server is already at my house - kind of a barebone and being tested.

As for monitors, still no clue. I know some people prefer CRTs over LCDs. We also want to setup two rooms for LAN teams with 5 computers in each room (usually a default number for number of players on a LAN team).
I recommend running 50 computers with DeepFreeze, the software that let you restore the exact image on the hard drive after a restart. This prevents user messing with file system and such and still able to recover quick.

Well, to start this whole thing it would probably cost near $100,000.

50PC's x $1000 + the rent of the property + advertising + electric bills + employees

Its gonna take a long time to yield a profit...and by then, all the computers will be outdated.

Get...

Intel C2D E4300 $170
Biostar Tforce P965 $110
Some 2GB RAM
WD 160GB SATA II HDD $53
Logitech MX310 or w/e it was called
Saitek I forgot what is it called
Some case
T1 internet

Each PC will cost around $500. You also have to worry about electric bills, advertising, crap, and $500x50PC= $25,000

You need to have some money before starting an internet cafe, also, begin with less PC, like 30, then if there are more customers, extend to more PC.

DeepFreeze is decent but we have it covered. We will also have an image file that will be able to be loaded on to each computer. What I'm going to do is install a fresh copy of XP Pro (I don't think we're going to do Vista - don't quote me, though. We might). Install all of the games we are going to need - and then install the smartlaunch client. After this, Acronis makes a very nice enterprise ghosting software like Norton Ghost. We are going to use that to make an image of the setup and distribute it across the network. Basically, a massive install of 50 computers should take less then three or four hours.
