Default *sigh* On to the dark side.

I've been ignoring it.

I've been evading it.

I've been denying it.

I've been delaying it.

It's happened. I can't block it out of my mind anymore.

I hear the voices in my head, screaming, "Get a conroe!".

I just can't take it anymore.

I just can't justify it.

This is hard and it hurts, but I need the performance, I need the power ...

I need ... Conroe ...

http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16819115015
E6320 - 170 dollars

http://www.newegg.com/product/Produc...82E16835200024
Rosewill HSF ... 24 dollars (combo)

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813127018
Abit IB9 ... 74 dollars

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145590
Corsair XMS2, 2gb kit, DDR2-800 ... 100 dollars

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814241038
GeCube x1950Pro ... 129 dollars

That and all the goodies (Audigy SE [can't afford an x-fi with the c2d rig], keyboard/mouse, monitor, speakers, dvd) fills my 1,000 dollar budget to the tip.

I'll overclock Conroe to 2.4ghz minimum with that HSF. I guess I'll need AS5.

I just couldn't justify AM2 in this day and age with a 1,000 dollar budget.

I just couldn't do it.

I'm so sorry AMD ... *voice cracks* I'm so sorry ...

*cries on Chozart's shoulder*

It slammed Assassin's Creed's head onto the curb then stomped its head into that curb until it was nothing but a bloody pulp. This card is one bad mo-fo. It'll backhand your sister and degrade your mom, but they will still love it and want to date it because it is just that good. I love this card so much that I burned my tongue trying to french kiss it, and I still keep trying.

Um... not so sure about that cooler... the stock one would probably be better.

And you may want to get a better mobo.

Could you possibly fit a P5B-Plus in your budget?

It's $60 more.

My budget is completely maxed out, and I'm even using rebates. It's actually 1,000 dollars even, after rebates, before shipping. Any more and I'm going to have to drop the proc down a couple levels. I was strongly considering an Allensdale, even though none of them have the 4mb cache.

What is the disadvantage of an Allensdale?

for another build, id recommend a p5n-sli, but since it may not get to 500 fsb, id recommend a p5b-plus or a dfi-p965s

That means limited overclocking?

How limited? I want 2.4 at least.

Also, how good is the stock HSF? I would not ever think of overclocking on stock cooling ... are C2Ds different?

I want to keep it under 60, so I guess that isn't bad.

The E6320 would generate more heat though, with the extra cache, wouldn't it?

And, would an Allensdale OC to 2.4ghz on stock?
