The original post here was about my new parts, but right now I'm just trying to get the darned thing to turn on.. scroll down 4 posts to read about the build issues I'm having.
__________________------- original post below ---------- I decided against the AM2 rig. Let's overclock a 2180 instead, eh? I'm trying to keep the build around $400. The challenge is that this is a mATX platform. I'm building in a Ultra Microfly case (paid $68 after rebate), so I had to forget about the p35 chipset- no micro ATX boards. That sort of sucks. So I went with the GIGABYTE GA-G33M-S2. It's not the best OC'er but it has a decent amount of OC options. FWIW, if you're considering an mATX build, consider AMD- they have a lot more micro boards available. ![]() And yes, I only ordered a 512M module of RAM, but that's just in case I need it to get the two gigs of OC-Z to post. Then, I'll add the 512 to my sister's computer for a little added boost. Here's my order (from the Egg): Intel Dual-Core E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz LGA 775 Processor $93.99 GIGABYTE GA-G33M-S2 LGA 775 Intel G33 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard $101.99 Team Elite 512MB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $21.99 Maxtor 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive $46.99 SAMSUNG 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S203B $30.99 With a couple of SATA cables and a few other tiny doodads, the total build so far, including shipping, comes to: $317.34 And I still need to pick up the RAM and a CPU cooler, but first things first, let's get it assembled, posting, and let's see what will fit in the case.

I'll be keeping on board video for now, but will probably upgrade at some point. For right now, I just want to get it up and running and probably play around with Mepis or Ubuntu for a little while. I will decide on XP/Vista/32/64 a little later down the road...

Power supply: DOA. I tried jumping it green-to-black, but got nothing from the PSU.
__________________However, I do get voltage to the USB ports when I'm plugged into the mobo. And the temp-sensor indicator does flicker for a fraction of a second when I turn it on. Sound like a bad PSU to you folks?
