Default Need a budget gaming build for my bro

Well it is about that time to get another gaming rig in my house. This is for my little bro though so i want to get him started since i plan to order everything in January or so. You may post an AMD build in here if you would like because i am not sure if i want to get him an intel build or an AMD build. I know that new parts are coming out but i think now is a pretty good time to start to formulate a build. My brother's MAXIMUM budget is $1200. He says that he would like to play crysis when it comes out so it has to be a dx10 build. You don't have to go crazy with this build. Just list things that would be necessary for his needs. I am thinking xp pro but it is way expensive and vista is more futureproof. However, vista has its weaknesses too. Vista is like a security funland and my brother would not know what to do in a situation when it requires him to do something because he needs to authorize it or something. I have vista and i love it but my brother would get pretty confused on a lot of things. Also, vista is a pain in the butt to install. I guess i would like for xp pro to be in the build. Thank you soooo much for all the times you helped me and thank you for posting in this thread.

Is twice necessary? Vista is definitely easier to install and you need it for DX10.

Also, my bro needs an internet source from our router so i guess a wireless card/adapter will work. I know you might say that you can ignore what internet adapters are compatible with but you need to listen to what they say. I will try to find a wireless card/adapter that is compatible with vista. Anyone who can help me would be great.

Dont even think about XP anymore, preety soon it will be unsuported.

Get vista X64.

E2180 79$ (i was gonna select an E6550 or an E6750, but it will go over budget.
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L 99$
2 GB DDR2-800 Crucial ballistix. 60$ after MIR GET TWO KITS.
WD5000AAKS 500GB. 104$
HIS HD2900PRO 279$ (dont even think about the GTS) 279$
OCZ stealthXstream 600W 74$ after mIR
Collermaster Centurion CASE 49$
Vista Home premium 114$ 64BIT
Sceptre 20" LCD, 179$ after a 10$ MIR.

Nuff said.

Edit: look in my signature for compatible network cards for windows vista x64

Looks like a pretty good build but i was thinking more on the lines of a 8600 or something. I will be perfectly honest with you....THAT CPU IS HORRIBLE!! I don't think i will get that for my brother and there will be a lot of bottlenecking as well. He also doesn't need a 500gb hdd. He probably could use a 19 inch monitor but 20 is ok i guess. let me see if i can formulate a build real quick and see if i can get it a little better. Let me know what you think as well.

+1 rep though for the wireless adapter. Just what i was looking for.

I would avoid 64bit atm - driver issues are a nightmare on XP 64bit, never mind Vista.

Actually, you should've said more and told him that he is only eligible for 1 rebate per household

Why a 8600? The 2900 Pro is better....
