i broke 12k stock with my 8800gt, would have imagined a 8800gtx would be able to smash that score... is it the smaller resolution that keeps it from shining? or the simplicity of dx9?

the 8800GT is a different core, optimized at different areas.

The GTX will smoke the GT at higher resolutions, and will be marginally faster at lower ones. Reminder, 3dmark scores are not everything.
