How does this system look? The total comes out to be $793 and I get $80 worth of rebates on top on that.

I am trying to build a complete system... I apologise for not making that clear.

i don't know much about fan controllers, but I've never heard of the one you picked. I just know that the sunbean rheobus is recommended by a lot of people and it costs roughly the same.

The mobo, DS3L, is a strong low cost board. RAM, PSU look fine. What exactly is that PSU? Am curious about all the cooling, think you will need it? I mean the DS3L isn't known for OCability.

I also am going to suggest a e8400, good gaming chip, and stock cooling is fine, even after a bit of OCing. And the 8800GTS 512 looks kick ass. A bit more price than the 8800gt and a bit more performance. (I wanted one of those but ran out of money, the eVGA 8800gt I bought was 170)

edit: I don't really know what the e2180 is, so maybe I am unqualified on that topic.

edit2: some conversation about e2180 vs e8400 that you may have already seen.

From what I understand, the e6750 is old generation e8400 and the price is about the same. No? e6750 is 65n and e8400 is 45n, and the e8400 is known for being a bit cooler, along with a newer, possibly better instruction set.

(some random googled link to a conversation about it)

Here's my shot at helping you decide on your 800 dollar build. Please keep in mind I did everything in my power to keep it under 800.

One note on the gigabyte p35-ds3l is that either you Manually downclock your pc8400 memory and then OC it to 1000 or just get pc6400 like I have in the cart and OC that.

Ok, the RC-690 is $75 free shipping from zipzoomfly.com. You can get the Samsung DVD burner on special for $25, unless you really want lightscribe(you have to pay extra for the disks, not worth it IMO). GA-EP35-DS3L(newer version of GA-P35-DS3L) is $89 at zipzoomfly.com. Every little bit helps
