Default New Build For Brother

Latest Update: Post #19

I'm building a computer for my brother and here's what I got for him so far.

Case - COSMOS RC-1000-KSN1-GP
Motherboard - GA-P35-DS3L
Processor - q6600
Heatsink - Tuniq Tower 120
Graphic Card - eVGA 9800GX2
Memory - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Power Supply - CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX
Hard Drive - Seagate 7200.11 500GB
Optical Drive - Samsung DVD Burner

Is this rig alright for someone who plays games everyday at 1920x1080 resolution hoping to max everything out besdies Crysis? He also have no plans for SLI. He hope he can overclock his quad to around 3.6ghz and was wondering if there's any problem with the cooling. I'm trying to build this for him under $1500 but it's a little over and was wondering if there's good suggestions on how to adjust this rig by getting cheaper parts without a lot of loss on performance based on his needs. Thanks in advance.

Why not a Cosmos-S (RC-1100) ?. Otherwise solid build good work.

UPDATE: 6/25/08

Since the new video cards are finally here... this is what I have in mind now that would save me a lot of money.

Quote:
ATI VisionTek 4850 Graphic Card
SEAGATE 7200.10 500GB SATA HD
INTEL Q6600 Processor
$488.96 TigerDirect.com (including tax / shipping)

G. Skill DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) 4GB 2x2 PK Memory
DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS Motherboard
XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler
SAMSUNG 20X DVD Burner
$315.31 NewEgg.com (including tax / shipping)

CORSAIR 520HX Power Supply
COOLER MASTER CM690
$178.59ish Buy.com (including tax / shipping / gco)
Questions
  • Will I be able to overclock the processor to 3.2 - 3.6 ghz?
  • Will the heatsink fit the motherboard and case?
  • How many extra fans will I need to buy extra for better cooling and which fans should I get?
  • Will my power supply be strong enough to run everything?

Thanks in advance!

Great, I was going to suggest a PSU with more rails anyway, but I see you beat me to it. High end video cards like those listed can eat up some power, so you're going to need them.
