__________________I am using Linux and will continue to use Slack 12/12.1 (64-bit kernel) I do game in WINE, play CSS, WC3, and SC I do some research work on this computer (computational biology) but I have clusters at uni for actually running the stuff. I don't think I need much more. So I don't really need anything, per se.... I was thinking 3 more Excelstor 80GB HDD's for RAID0/1 (DS3 supports) and maybe a new GFX. My speakers own (X-530's) atleast imho and everything else looks good right now.

I'd say drop in a 3870 once they drop in price from the 4k series release and get some more hard drives, perhaps a better sound card?
You don't need anymore RAM for running linux.

ATI+Linux=FAIL, amirite?
__________________If they have improved, I still can't believe they would be at the level of nVidia's drivers. plus CUDA=WIN, especially for my research. so unless you can nullify the above, i'm looking at maybe an 8800GT/9600GT whichever one is better, i'm not sure which one is because I hear mixed opinions, some think one is better, others think otherwise
