Post $1200 build log

Ok, this will be my first complete build and i spent the better part of a month picking out and researching what i needed and i budgeted myself for $1200 max

Components are as follows (keep in mind i'm in Canada so some items may be a little more)

Case - CM 690 - $79.73
Hard Drive - WD 640GB SATA2 - $92.99
Thermal Compound - OCZ Freeze Extreme - $11.99
Mobo - EVGA 750I - $199.99
O/S - Vista 64BIT (home premium) - $113.85
PS - Corsair TX750W - $124.99
DVD Burner - Liteon LH-20A1S - $34.19
Memory - G.SKILL 4GB DDR2-1000 - $99.99
Cooler - Xigmatek HDT-S1283 - $35.49
Video Card - EVGA E-GEFORCE 9800GTX - $199.99
CPU - E8400 - $199.99
----------------------------------------------------------
Grand Total (before taxes and shipping) - 1193.19

i'll be reusing my old monitor, keyboard, and mouse seeing as there only 6 months.

I also went with the xigmatek cooler over a vendetta2 because from what i can see they have very comparable results, esp with the thermalright bolt thru kit (also on order, just not listed)

everything is already on order and i should have and be able to put it together next weekend and start some benchmarks

------
Edit
------

I've decided to take everyones advice and went with a stonger video card
the order is now updated from an 8800gt to an 9800gtx

and no, i wont go with the ati cards, for 2 reasons.
1, my last 2 ati cards burnt up on me
2, nvidia has better driver support in linux (incase i ever switch over to linux again)

Looks like you did a great job with planning this build. Everything looks good.

Only advice would be to look into the 4850 because it is a bit more powerful than the 8800 and will give you awesome results.

Looks like an awesome build though!

geez 12 bucks for thermal compound

i'd exchange that for the 3 dollar kind, and put that extra money into a 4850 or 9800gtx+--a little graphics upgrade will go a long way

also, maybe you could cannibalize a hard drive / dvd drive from an old comp? good way to save some cash

It's not a bad build but there are a few things that I would have done differently such as get a 4850. I'd make you a revised build list but it seems that you already ordered.

I would get a 9800GTX for 199.

And instead of getting a 750i ftw, i'd go for the 680i.

Great choice on PSU, CPU e8400's are amazing, and the case.

ok, i've taken everyones input, thought it over, and decided to go with the 9800gtx instead of the 8800gt,

I placed the order late friday night so it hadn't been processed yet when I called them first thing this morning to updated the video card, but as of now it's finalized, i'm happy, and feel it's well ballanced for my needs
