Wow... we all had to rely on our parents at some point in our lives.
And I for one think that getting your parents to buy you a computer is sweet, being spoiled is awsome.

Ok on topic.

CPU: I dont know if you are going to overclock at all but if not I would say get a Q6600 if you plan on overclocking. If not get a AMD Phemon X4 2.5 for 264$ canadian http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...anufacture=AMD

MOBO: As far as motherboards i wouldent know much about what would be best but ill say dont spend more than 250 - 300$. This would depend on which CPU you choose also.

HDD: If I were you I would move away from the Super fast 10000 RPM drives because of how much more expensive they are that the normal ones. Like a 500 gig 7200rpm hdd would be good enough for any gaming rig. The HDD speed wont make that much of a differance other than when you are installing games or moving files and such.
Any 500 gig hdd would do but for 87$ you can get this one which will do fine http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=Seagate

Ram: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=CORSAIR
For 120$ you can get a decent 4 gigs of 1066 ram.

CD/DVD: any old 50$ drive will work fine.

Case: I would reccomend a Antec 900 gamers case but its really up to you to get a case you like. Lets sat 100 - 150 for the case

PSU: you should get a modular PSU simply for the cable manigment. This is a good one (264) here http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...acture=CORSAIR
You will need lots of power for the video cards

Before I do vedeo cards im going to tally up everything to see how much we have left over.
CPU: 264$
MoBo: 275$
Ram: 120$
CD/DVD: 50$
PSU: 264$
Case: 125$

That comes to about 1100$ canadian. Which leaves you with about 700$ to spend on a vid card.

Video cards: Buy 2 Radeon 4870's and you should come pretty close to your budget.

So what im thinking here is that if you buy a raptor you will have to forfit one of your 4870's.

PS: dam I hope I get at least a rep for this, took forever to put this together lol.

I dropped the Raptor, and replaced it with a pair of 320GB WD's in RAID0 for OS/Applications/daily duty, and a 640GB WD for backups (ALWAYS use a single drive for your data). This allowed me to include a nice Q6700, which is good for the rendering.
Subtotal: $1,723.88
$39.98
$1,763.86

I think we have an very powerful SLI rig here. If you do decide ATI in the end (still my recommendation), just replace the motherboard and video card with the suggestions in my first post. Will add $20, and thus still in budget. Either way, the Quad plus the dual video cards, 4GB RAM, plenty of hard drive space and performance will give you an excellent rig.

Chozart, you forgot OS :P So, it'll be ~1863. What good is a box without an OS? I don't want to stare at it in awe.

Drop down to an Q6600 in that case. Either just hope you're lucky enough to get a good overclocker, or find a used one here on the forums of which the seller guarantees it's a good overclocker. Or, get an E8400 is you don't mind dual core. That'll get you right back at $1800

Hahahaha need is irrelevant. But it fits the budget and it's cool

Ok, my suggestion: Get a single GTX 280:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150309

Costs $520, which reduces the total with $80. Add the OS ($100), and you're still under $1800.

Now, if you say yourself you don't need/want SLI, why get an SLI board?

@warpriest: not too much money. As I stated before, if you choose a Q6600 or E8400, you CAN fit dual GTX 260's. The one thing that is a TOTAL waste of money is the Velocitiraptor

Mxbn0: He's pretty much set on nVidia..
