Hmm...I love the smell of new toys....Great pics.

Few things bothered me though.

Why'd you get the Core Contact? Apparently it has major mounting issues.

The box that the 4870X2 came in...I mean WTH?!?!?! I've seen dial-up fax modems (internal ones) come in better packaged boxes.

I mean the 4870x2 is royalty in computer hardware, you wouldn't use an '89 Corolla to drop off Queen Elizabeth at the Buckingham Palace would you?

Bad VisionTek.

But I guess the lifetime warranty makes up for it tho huh?!

I got the core contact cuz apparently it is better than (or as good as ) a true. and it is less expensive. I never heard of the mounting issues tho.

As for video cards, nvidia suppliers def. have better packaging. the 4870X2 was in a white box that was in another thin box (with gfx on it and stuff). I can't wait to use it with crysis warhead

I'll try and make the wiring as clean as I can without a modular PSU. Hopefully the Full Tower allows for a lot of cable management!

Agh... I am so tired of the problems from www.directcanada.com

I have never had a problem with them before, but for this order it is hell.

1. They ship two shippments of 3. One says Purolator ground (which I didn't pay for. I payed for Express shipping from Canada Post). So I contact them about it. They tell me they will refund me for the difference.

2. Turns out that shipment never existed. The PSU was out of stock. They say there is no ETA on it (back-ordered). They give me the option of a refund. So I take it. I don't get any reply, and my father goes and buys a PSU from a local store. Seems like a logical decision seeing as the PSU is apparently back ordered.

3. I get an e-mail today saying that the person went to give me a refund, but they shipped it out this morning. Like what the hell? So now they have wasted my father's time (he had to drive 30 mins to the store then back, and has to do it again now). SO if this order is NOT here by Friday I am going to flip.

I live 45 mins away from home (university) and so coming home isn't too cheap (but isn't overly expensive). I can only come home during weekends, so if it isn't here Friday, I don't get it until next weekend. Hows that for service eh? I pay 87 bucks in shipping for 2 day shipping, and it takes almost 2 weeks. Completely unacceptable and I will think twice before ordering from them again.

Ok... I just finished 10 hours of building... So many friggin problems I am completely exhausted. It is 6 in the morning here now. Everything went fine (I had to put some older parts in to test them to see if they worked after the lightning. The old CPU, Graphics cards and what not).

So I get my new E8600 into my mobo, and try putting my heatsink on it. Well some asshats (I am not too happy with them at the moment lol) at Asus have decided it would be a good idea to COMPLETELY SURROUND THE CPU WITH HEASINKS SO THAT NOTHING FRIGGIN FITS. God i spent like 2 hours trying to get that damn thing in. Me and my father finally did.

Go to turn the comp on, no video, no beep. We change video card. nothing. Ram. Nothing. and so it is down to the CPU... So i swap my old 8400 in (heh... just after getting that damn heatsink on). It works. So at this point I am about to kill myself because I think I have a dead E8600. But I think "I might as well try the 8600 again". I do and it works. Thank goodness. So this is like... 2 in the morningish now. I clean my old Tuniq up, clean the 8600 of thermal paste. My dad goes out and has to cut part of the bracket for the tuniq tower (part that wasn't needed) just for the thing to fit into the small space Asus has left by the CPU (cuz of those damn heatsinks!!!)

I then spent the next 2 hours or more just doing driver updates and cleaning and what not. And alas, I almost have a fully functional pc. No pictures yet cuz I was too damn frustrated to take any. I'll take some finished pictures tomorow. I must say that was a horrible build. Waaaaayy too many problems for my liking. Well that is my rant lol.
