This is my first complete build. I have replaced parts in old computers, but never built one from the ground up. I have spent the past two months researching these forums and others and this is what I came up with. I am building this computer with the intent on Gaming and Photoshoping (this is why i want Quadcore and the Tablet).

I have already purchased the WD HD as well as a Lite-on Dvd burner.

Looks very good.

One question tho, at what resolution will you be playing? Because the 1gb version of the hd4870 is not that much more expensive, and if you play at a high resolution it is worth it.

That cpu cooler is good

FilluX:
I don't know what resolution i will be playing at? The Cintiq has a resolution of UXGA (1600 x 1200). Is that good for gaming?
Also, I dont see a 1gb version of the VisionTek brand.

prracer6:
Thanks for the advice, I think I will go with that one instead if you think it is worth the extra few bucks.

Also, Does anyone know anything about the vista cd i'm looking at? Is it the correct one?

Try to play at the highest possible resolution (better graphics)

Brand does not really matter, see if you can find any 1gb version.

Yes, thats the correct/very good vista.

Very well selected parts, just change the PSU to the one prracer6 recommended. And go for q9550. It has almost the same overclocking potential as q9650 (unless you will do extreme overclocking with liquid nitrogen there the q9650 might go a tiny bit higher than q9550) and is much cheaper.

Maybe invest the 200 bucks you save into a 4870x2?

FilluX:
Ok, i have found other brands with 1gb, but I can't decide on which one to pick.

tibor28:
Well, the only reason I chose the q9650 is because it is e0 stepping. Should I just be happy with a q9550 c1 stepping? q9550 is what I prefer, but I am tired of waiting for the e0 to start shipping. Is there going to be a noticeable difference in the two steppings, or am I being overcritical?

What ive heard about the E0 stepping is that it runs slightly cooler but there isnt a big difference in overclocking potential or performance. At least nowhere as big as the difference between B3 and G0 stepping on the q6600.
As i said as long as you will be happy running it somewhere at reasonable clock at around 3.6-3.8ghz u shouldnt have any problems.

EDIT: You will probably recieve the new E0 stepping anyways. People who ordered it at the end of october from newegg already recieved the E0 stepping.

-I just noticed that the DVD burner I have is IDE. I guess I need a SATA right? Will there be a big difference in the time it takes to burn a DVD if I stay with the IDE?

-4 GB ram vs 8 GB ram, is there a noticeable difference in gaming or photoshop?

-Do I need a fan controller?
-and do I need to replace some of the fans?
-What is the reason that people replaced their fans? Cuz of CFM or Noise?

Fan controller:
