Thanks, because there are so many wires in the side of the case it's really hard to close, but as long as nothing shorts.... , then all is well!

I forwarded a private message that might help some, but if you just search this site or look at some of my previous posts responding to people that ask the same question, then you'll find it. A google search helps also and that is were I started, by reading the reviews and gleaming a little info here and there....

Ok I got my Thermalright HR-03 GT graphics card cooler in my mail from Fed-Ex today and I just put it in.

I first took off the old Asus cooler and cleaned the gpu and ram with some alcohol and a lot of Q-Tips...

Then as per the instructions I put the ram coolers on next. I choose to keep the stock power ic coolers, which is the golden long fin like thing on the right of the above image. I say following the instructions, because it would have been a lot easier in hindsight if I would have installed the majority of the heat sinks after the gpu cooler was installed.

All of the supplied ram heatsinks had an odd type of really sticky thermal paste on them that was covered in a plastic film. They are really sticky...

Here's the card with the ram heat sinks installed:

Then I put some AS5 on the gpu in a small straight line, with a gap towards the edge. I had to do do this a couple times, because of a few mistakes that I will get into shortly. Sorry the image is poor, this crappy camera doesn't like close up images even when is set it to do just that:

After a lot of trial and error and trying to get over the ram sinks and screws I finally got it installed. The only things I noticed was a little power transistor that got in the way and the fact that the gpu block wasn't totally on the gpu. Can you spot the problem?

Bigger Image

If you have a keen eye you'll notice that the screws are fully tightened and it's backwards!
Can't exactly plug it into the pci-e slot with 6 giant tubes in the way....

Ok so after unscrewing everything, cleaning the as5 off, reapplying, getting everything tight and flush again. Which I have to say those thumb screws can't be tightened with a thumb. I used mini-plier like tools as seen above for electrical work. Then I had a lot of trouble getting past the screws on the bottom and the ram heatsinks on the top. Evertime I tried the AS5 would hit the giant heatsink and I would have to start again. I had to physically bend the Thermalright cooler to get it to fit right... The power transistor is still in the way if you look at the bottom left corner of this picture. I did manage to tighten everything enough for the gpu to fit nice and flush with the Thermalright, but it wasn't easy.

Here is the finished installation:

Here's how it now looks inside my case:

I plan on running this passive for now without a fan. About 5hrs ago I tested my Asus actively cooled card and I got 53 degrees @ 20% fan load at idle. Now at idle I get 46 degrees without a fan.

So a 7 degree drop at idle temperature... I think that's impressive and certainly a lot less noisy...
