Its not oc'ed... would it really drop down to 16k because of that?

Also iggster how did you flash your bios? Ive been told to just dump the files on a cd but without a os to back it up how would it run?

use the f3 bios, I wouldnt try using anything else yet.

get the original disk and run it and then you will see an option to install a bios update utility and search for a bios and pretty much just update it from it. kind of easy just dont do it overclocked or with any other programs running.

Regarding temp monitoring, I have been using realtemp. HWmonitor seems to work also but I trust the readings I am getting from realtemp more.

Not to start a fire, but 1000W may be on the small side for i7/ 3x 280gtx. Using this power supply calc I get ~1031 watts for 100% load (I used qx9650 for reference, oc'd to 3666, and gtx 280 @ 700/1400 - 168W by difference). You may not see 100% load, but that isn't much headroom and PSU's age... just thought I would point it out in case you hadn't thought of it as PSU capacity has given me lower 3dmark scores in the past.

Sweet build!!

Wait, will the watercooling fit with the I7 since the socket is 1336 and not 775?

The PSU should be ok but thanks for the idea

Got the bios sorted, had to root out a floppy drive and then use the bios updater with the board (Press END during bootup).

The 3dmark bottleneck appears to be the chip, the intel turbo overboost or something had it pre-overclocked and with the bios update it was isabled so the after-update run was even slower.
BTW: Iggster, thanks for the help

Gonna start taking her apart again now ready for storage untill the case is done.

Yeah, ive got the EK-Supreme 1366 block.
If you have one of the more well known blocks at the moment you can also get a new backplate/mount to allow it to fit i7/1366.
