Why do people like me get amazing rigs? cause we can...You do know most super car owners dont even drive over 1,000 miles a YEAR.. We just do it cause when we need something we want the best so we can do whatever it is we want to do without any problems.

Iggster what you have to realize (if you have not already) is that a lot of the guys (and gals) in shock that the initial poster is building such a rig for a casual gamer is because they are jealous. It would take a lot of people on here a year or two to save enough money to build such a powerful rig. Everyone needs to stop HATING and enjoy the pics and updates. Just my $0.02.

I bet he won't even use the computer to the full extent that he would need. He's not even a dedicated or hard-core gamer and he want's such specifications.
And why would he wanna fit into the crowd? As already said he doesn't post on here so what does it matter, none of his freinds are into computers, he wants a high performance gaming PC that is silent, that is what I will build him.

I also know what crossfireX is I just mis-read your specs.

And the rig will be running to its full potential all the time as Im gonna set F@H up on it so when he doesn't game its running that. Yes the rig may be a little bit of overkill but it means it will last longer, he will not be buying another computer for a long time, He is only just stepping up from 478 @ 2.0ghz.

Thanks for agreeing not to fill the build log up with all the arguing.

Exactly. He needed a complete system overhaul anyway so going for the latest and greatest makes sense. Upgrading from a LGA775 system wouldn't make nearly as much sense.

Ok so today ive done a few of the small but long time taking things that needed doing,
  • Put castors on,
  • Cut motherboard SATA+Power Connector holes into the tray,
  • Cut the top motherboard tray strut,
  • Modded fan corners,
  • Installed 360+240 fans and put them together.
Quite a few of my pictures have failed to be saved? Im not sure why so there are not that many

Top raditator held on to see where the motherboard strut had to be cut.

Motherboard tray marked up for cutting

TFC 360 fanned up

TFC 240 before being joined together with the 360.

I will post more pictures tomorrow of the stuff that was missed.
Hope to have the rig finished in a week...

Also the missing tubing from WCUK has arrived and more cable sleaving and heatshrink from ChilledPC

Nice, can't wait for the update.

Out of curiosity how much did the whole thing cost?

Just an observation, if your dad has been with a P4 for some time I'm assuming his perspective of 'high-end' might be like my system, I know many on this forum will say my computer is no where near high end but then normal people don't think from the perspective of an enthusiast. But your dad was willing to pay that so its all good

The system must last a long time and thus I chose 1366 socket (i7) not 775 as it will be a little more future proof, and the GTX280's work better with a i7 (Less bottleneck). Yeah he thinks that goliath is powerfull (My sig rig) but It will need to last a long time so we went all out
