everything looks good. you might as well upgrade now, if you wait, you will always be waiting. if you worried about loseing money, its impossible to not lose money on a computer build of any kind, just about.

From the reading I have been doing lately on HDDs, even manufacturer's are admitting that the cache (16 or 32) makes very little difference to performance. What sets the Raptors apart are the faster spin and the smaller size(2.5 vs. 3.5).
And how is a Raptor a hassle??
Apologies for the thread hijack....Carry on

No worries. Its not so much the cache that helps the caviar black. It has dual processors (like the vraptor) and is based off high-performance server drives. The Velociraptor (2.5" 10,000rpm 300gb) drive is faster, but not by a huge amount in the real world.

The main hassle with the raptors is their slightly waivering reliability, fairly high noise levels and small space (meaning a secondary drive is usually needed). Plus they are expensive.
EDIT:
Almost forgot, heres a 640AALS vs a velociraptor -

WOW! You got me on that one. The Caviar Black matches the Raptor blow for blow. And from the graphs, the Raptor gets unstable in short bursts. I am convinced now
+rep for that BTW

One thing to note though is that this doen't hold true for the 250gb platter drives (caviar black 500gb and 750gb) these drives do not match the performance of the 640gb and 1tb caviar black drives (which are based off 320gb platters. I have a 750gb caviar black and it is not as quick at the 640gb or 1tb.

Anyway, solid build good choices, Perhaps except the EVGA board. But that's personal...

That EVGA board has gotten nothing but solid reviews.

I know it's "personal," but I'm just saying from reading all the reviews, that EVGA board is the most reliable x58 board out right now.
