Default Budget Core i7 Build (oxymoron i know)

Can't really go "budget" with Core i7 build, but I'm attempting to go i7 in the sub-$1k range. All prices are shown after shipping + tax. I'm aware that you can go lower than this, but this is just my build.

CPU: Core i7 920 ($250 from Frys)
MOBO: eVGA x58 ($302 from Tigerdirect) [lifetime warranty!]
PSU: Corsair 650tx ($96 from Amazon)
RAM: OCZ 3x2GB DDR3 ($181 from zipzoomfly)
CASE: Antec 300 ($40 from Frys)
VIDEO CARD: undecided ($250 range; currently waiting for C.E.S for vid card price drops)
Optical Drive: Pioneer 20x ($24 from local computer store)

I already own existing TRUE cpu cooler, but then I had to buy the LGA 1366 mount bracket for it, which cost an additional 14 dollars. I'm also using an existing 500gb hard drive so this cut the cost down a little bit.

Total comes to $1,157.

What do you guys think?

I like it.. Should overclock nicely with your TRUE on it. Nice build, and cheaper than I thought an I7 build like that would turn out.

looks sexy, and i would have to agree. The EVGA X58 board just works hard for you and makes it look like silk.

NIce, only thing I would say is that PSU looks borderline if you ever want to add another graphics card. Nice choice of parts though. I think you might be able to get a GTX280 for $250 real soon.

mainly for gaming and extracting lots of rar's haha. i do a bit of encoding as well using adobe premiere pro. I was originally going to get a mainstream htpc build, but then thought why don't i just future-proof my 2nd rig. I'm using my existing Q6600 x48 rig as my htpc and this new build as my gaming rig.

yeah the PSU is the only buyer's remorse that I have. I don't plan on SLI'ing in the near future so I guess I will be ok for now. I also have an existing OCZ 700w PSU that I can use if the 650 is not enough.

btw thanks for the positive feedback guys. overclock.net seems to have a mature community!
