Default i7 965 Extreme Build

Time to jump to i7; this is my (almost) final build. What do you think?

I noticed that a lot of i7 builders are using the EVGA X58 board, while I've selected the Rampage 2 Extreme. If someone can talk me into the EVGA board, then I'll get it.

EVGA Classified or Gigabyte X58 Extreme, or ASUS P6T are your best/only options for good results

I'd recommend these 3 boards:
Gigabyte Extreme (Stable, Good overclocking)
Foxconn BloodRage (Great CPU and Memory overclocking)
EVGA X58 (Its EVGA...enough said)

I'm getting the Gigabyte UD5 (none extreme version) for my Corei7 build
But still not 100% sure

You gotta give DFI some love, has any other board pushed 230bclk?

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ue120-air.html

He links to his guide on the DFI LP UT X58-T3EH8 in the above thread. If I were to go i7 my choice in board would go EVGA classified then DFI's X58.

I'd wait for the EVGA Classified.

Thanks for the replies. Indeed I might wait for the Classified, but it has no set launch date, and the $450 price tag makes me cringe (part of why I'd like to be talked out of the Rampage II Extreme.)

I'm assuming I'll be able to easily get it stable @ 4.0 on air with either EVGA or RIIE. Biggest differences I noted was that the RIIE supports 1800 memory, which I don't see myself going to, and it's included sound card.

Getting the EVGA would probably prompt me to drop $100 on a sound card, so I wouldn't really save anything either way...

Decisions, decisions....

The rampage II extreme is far superior than the evga x58. It's the best board out there right now.
The EVGA X58 and the Intel Smackover are at the bottom of the food chain..

If you wanna save, Even the cheapest Asus P6T outpreforms the EVGA.
Don't pay extra for the EVGA when you can get better for a lower price.
