Default Issues with my case swap

Well today was supposed to be the day I got up and running with my new mobo and case but things aren't going so well. After setting everything up and waiting for the moment of truth I hit the power button and the only thing that happened was a case fan LED flickering for a split second then nothing. No fans, no mobo light illuminating part of the case and no signal being picked up by the monitor. After trying just now again the fan doesnt even come on for a second anymore.

At first I thought I made a silly mistake by not plugging something in, but after looking over my board and my manual I just cant see anything that looks out of place. I'm at wits end because earlier I had a computer that could at least do simple tasks without my main gpu and now I'm just staring at this lifeless case . I'm thinking that I might have bumped something on the mobo or possibly fried something, although I did have my anti static bracelet on and never had a discharge when touching the case. Everything was working fine in my old case except for the fact I hadnt tested my new gpu or mobo.

I really dont want to admit defeat and then pay for it by taking it to a shop, so this is my last resort before I throw in the towel. Anything would be helpful, but ill be doing it tomorrow as I've been at it all day and am exhausted. Ironically my first build went much more smoothly.

Does your PSU come on? If there is no fan in the PSU, I would test that first. You can trigger the PSU by jumping a couple of pins on the main 24 pin connector (pins 14 and 15 I think. Do a search and you'll find it easily). If the PSU voltages are ok, you will have to think motherboard...
sorry dude. Hope it works out for ya.

Have you used the stand-offs for the motherboard? Check that there are no cables touching the case that might cause a short circuit.

ya all the all the appropriate standoffs are in place. what cables do you mean? Because I have wires that were routed through the back that are taped to the case but that shouldnt cause problems. I was hoping I had plugged in the power sw on but its correct :/. So the PSU itself should at least turn on right? It's really weird. I think the mobo really might be a goner out of the box.

If any molex plugs were directly touching the case it might cause problems but the way you say you have them should be fine.

Try taking out all of the unessesary hardware and try a boot with the most basic stuff.

Sounds like your motherboard is shorting itself out, as tUDJ said. Make absolutely sure your motherboard isn't touching anything

ok, by the way out of curiousity, how rough can you get with a mobo? I have a push pin HS and was able to put a good bit of weight on it to secure it with my 650i and p45. Just trying to go through what I did in my head that could have broken it if it is in fact broken. I didnt hear any cracks or see anything come off though :/. Just looking for any cause at this point I guess. I'm going to open that thing up again. Thanks for the help so far.

PS- I'll check for shorts as well.

strip the board, just cpu and 1 stick of ram, and minimal power connections. try it like that. if your getting nothing then pull the PSU and jump it and make sure its working, something could of blown.

or you could always setup on your old board and make sure everything is in working order.

Can I turn on the PSU by itself just plugged into the wall to see if it will run? Or does it need to be plugged into the mobo?

I just took everything out and tried to start it up while the mobo was lying on the box, the PSU didnt even turn on . I think the mobo is dead as the psu was working just yesterday morning.
