Default Finally back! Buildin new rig!

finally back after being in england for quite some time, bloody missed these forums!!Im after a new rig as im giving my current rig to my family.. Looking to spend around $2000, Already have a kick ass wc setup along with case, mouse, keyboard lcd monitor etc.. Just need New mobo, ram,Cpu,Dvd,Corsair hx1000, pretty much! I was looking at the Core i7's but since the performance in gaming isnt as i expected im kinda avoiding the i7, i could be wrong though as i havent been around for quite some time to see if any updates have been released.. I burn and multi-task alot during the day but at night i play alot of games, Definately looking something that is kick ass!! cheers

Ahhh.... 2 grand? And you don't need a case/monitor/peripherals?

Edit: Hah, forgot the time, need to wrap things up here at work...

You'll be able to get something very nice for that. High end C2Q w/ 295's in SLI or something.

Welcome back, take a look at this review i posted earlier, the i7 tops every game. its just up to you to decide if the price is worth it. IF you want the HX1000W power supply they are currently bundled with certain X58 mother boards for a nice -$40 off, Evga X58, Asus P6T deluxe, Gigabyte X58 UD3R.

For an example the evga X58 bundled wit the HX1000: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.159137

Thanks raffy and Auld... Change of mind.. If the i7 is topping every game i might consider going the i7, How does it go with multi tasking compare with the Q9650 for example??I also see the new gtx 285s out, i take it the 260cores and 280s still dominate it right?

Alright, few things... I didn't REALLY bargain hunt, so you could probably drop this by a bit if you looked for combo deals, discounts, etc. But it's just under two grand.

Also, you didn't say if you needed a HD or not, I assumed not. If you do need one, maybe drop it down to 3GB of RAM (which is still very nice ) for ~half the price, and pick up a pair of 500GB WDs and RAID them.

Room to expand for SLI 295's... and.. I don't really know what else.. hah...

Thanks bro, How would you rate the rig out of 10? I currently have a q9650 but decided to make a new rig as you know, big increase in performance?
