So this is what i came up with. You just need to add a cpu cooler (don't think you'll need one , since you just want to get to 3.2ghz ,and for this PhII you'll just have to up the multiplier by 1 .And besides the cooler that comes with it is awsome) ,sound card and choose a case (antecs are good ) ,it's just that i'm not that good with sound cards and choosing a case is something that mostly depends on your preferences. Also for 30$ more you can change vista from OEM to retail. Tell me what you think.

yeah...prebuilds are an epic ripoff.

i remember looking on the dell website one time and seeing a rig $600 more expensive and slower (cause i would be OCing if i built it myself) than the one i was thinking of.

thats a bit of an extreme case, but obviously prebuilt companies make hundreds of dollars per PC they sell. i feel sorry for the n00bish general public...

build ftw.

if its first time jitters, most people here will be more than willing to help.

So we can assume your budget is $1200 then?

CPU - i7 - $279.99 (free ship)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115202

Motherboard - GIGABYTE EX58-UD3R - $199.99
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128375

Ram- G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 - $93.99 (free ship)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231225

PSU- Corsair 850tx 850w - $129.99 (free ship + $20 rebate)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139009

$703.96 so far. Not including shipping. Or rebates

To me, this is a great start. I'm sure others can fill in my blanks here / make new suggestions.

Cyberpower does not rip you off, infact they charge a very minimal amount for building it and installing windows for you. In december i actually compared buying identical rigs from cybepower and parts off of newegg because a family member wanted a new gaming rig. I was absolutely shocked to find that cyberpower only charged $50 more then newegg, and that was AFTER neweggs rebates, so it was actually cheaper to go with the identical cyberpower rig before rebates.

Dell on the other hand is a huge rip off. Their computers are very stable and seem to just keep going but they have high prices and a very short warranty.

Build it yourself if you know the basics, it will be a good experience. If however you are intimidated by the thought of building and servicing the computer by yourself, cyberpower is not a bad option. WAY better then Dell or something like that.

Dude did you see what i offered you , it's 3ghz at stock and BE , so going from 3>3.2 is a walk in the park... And judging from the video card you want , you will be gaming(or folding?) ,anyways for gaming 940 is on par with i7 and the card i chose is better than Gts 250(9800gtx+). You just need to add a case/mouse/keyboard/cooler(doubt you'll need it, the stock one is just fine for a small oc)/soundcard(if you rly need it, cause onboard is fine IMHO).
