This rig is dedicated to my girlfriend, my love, "Lola"
, who loves me enough to be an enabler to my PC addictions.![]() Note: This rig is already finished. I actually put it together last month, but was waiting for my third 9600GT before I could call it finished. Lola is the first custom PC I have ever owned. She started as a prebuilt from Cyberpower. Thats right I bought a prebuilt. You can all have a good laugh now. Just to set the record though, I did "reverse engineer" the entire PC and rebuilt it the first month I owned it. ![]() Here is what I started with: Apevia X-Cruiser case. Enermax 535W PSU. ASUS P5N32-E 680i Intel E6600 Corsair 2x512MB 2x Evga 7600GT Coolermaster Aquagate. Kind of like this, but an older design with a smaller 80mm radiator. I quickly upgraded things like the RAM and CPU cooler, then the CPU, PSU, GPUs, and soon realized I would need a new case. Next thing I knew I had a second PC, and all these old spare parts. ![]() Instead of an overpowered backup rig collecting dust in the closet. I decided to put it to good use. The Goal: To build a dedicated folding rig that would be quiet enough to keep in our bedroom. No Scythe Ultra Kazes spinning at 3000RPM, no LEDs, nothing. Just a black box sitting in the corner. New Specs: Modded Apevia X-Cruiser Enermax 535W (404W,34A real life) P5N32-E. HR05 on NB E6600 Cooler from E8600 2GB Reapers. 2x EVGA 9600GT 1x MSI 9600GT. Great card runs cool and quiet. So here she is. Lola 1. She cooks, she cleans, and she folds. I hated the front door on the case as soon as I got it. It blocked all airflow to the front intake, and one of the gauges always flickered. So I just removed it. I also disabled the LEDs on the Sunbeam fan controller, and the Power and HDD lights. So its just a blank panel. I wanted to improve airflow further in the front so I practiced my modding skills, I have none, and cut a 120mm hole. I used a 1200RPM Scythe Slipstream because of its decent airflow and quietness. The reason for the oddly shaped hole is because I wanted to use a 140mm fan, but gave up on it. I did the same to the rear panel and used the same Scythe fan. This not only increases airflow, but made it quieter as well. Enjoy the rest of the pics. Franz. Here she is in action. Fold away Lola. Fold away......

Not bad good sir!
I have basically the same case as that with a different front panel/door thing. Its called the X-Plorer. I eventually decommissioned it and its currently sitting in its original box/packaging waiting for something to do.
