Default Budget Build mATX...BOOOO...

Hey there again folks! Yet again reaching out for a few tidbits of info from the masses of this great forum. I need some advice on what I can do for a budget build for my GF. She has an old school HP 772N desktop PC and her B.Day is coming up and I want to upgrade her system as a gift. Its an mATX case that she says she wants to keep and I hate the mATX environment, however I was working on a build and here is what I have so far.

Current Mobo in the HP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/d...&product=83464

New Gear List:
Mobo:http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=32...nufacture=ASUS
RAM: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...r&promoid=1029
CPU: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=33...l&promoid=1029
PSU: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.p...e=COOLERMASTER
GPU: XFX 8800GT, one of my old cards.

I am looking for other opinions of what else I can get, or if there are any other options for a descent mobo really. I am not sure about this mobo, as I have NEVER bought an mATX mobo and she doesnt really need anything insane, just something that will work well and have good functionality. Any oppinions or advice would be awsome, thanks in advance folks!

Are you sure an AMD build wouldn't be cheaper?

If you stick with Intel, there are cheaper mobos like ones based on the G31.

LOL! I was actually thinking the same thing......

Too much money for one, I already have the vid card, and she doesnt need crossfire. Overkill for what she does.

Here's a build from newegg.ca
I changed the PSU i don't trust coolermaster PSU's, changed the mobo g31 will do fine with this chip and is alot cheaper, faster CPU.

CORSAIR CMPSU-400CX 400W ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified
CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
BIOSTAR G31-M7G DVI LGA 775 Intel G31 Micro ATX
Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 Wolfdale 2.8GHz 3MB L2 Cache LGA 775

It comes out $22.37 (CAD) more than your build

However it has 2 more mail in rebates totaling $25 (USD)

Sweet thanks for the sugguestions all! I will take them into consideration as I build up this system, however, I am only here on holidays for about a week, and will not be ordering online, I have to buy locally (EWWWWW). Dont have a choice really, but hey, its all good. I can order anything from the store and get it here overnight. Thanks for all the help and appreciate the input!

Just bought a Gigabyte G31 microATX and it's pretty nice. It should do everything that she needs. $50 USD on Newegg I believe.
