Arrow Future PC - Please check!

Hi,

I wondered whether this is a good choice of hardware based on my needs and uses. What I will be using it for is some gaming, e.g. L4D, GTA IV, TF2, COD4. Everyday computing, chatting and browsing the web, maybe some coding/programming too. I'm on a budget (around £600).

Hardware:
Case: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Coole...-Panel-w-o-PSU
PSU: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/620W-...ty-NEW-VERSION!
RAM: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-(...S-5-5-5-18-DHX
GFX Card: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB...VI-I-HDTV-HDCP
CPU: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Intel...tiplier-Retail
CPU Cooler: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Xigma...-Intel-AMD-CPU
Optical Drive: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/LG-GH...SATA-Black-OEM
Motherboard: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...-SATA-RAID-ATX
Hard Drive (planning 2 in raid 0 as a future upgrade):http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/640GB...rpm-32MB-Cache

Thanks for any advice/suggestions up front.

That should play Source games and CoD4 fine but I don't think it will play GTA IV so well. It is a good build for your needs and I am sure you will enjoy it

Why would it struggle with GTA IV? What should I upgrade?

I would get a Phenom II X3 720 over that setup. A more powerful GPU would also be nice if you could afford it.

Better Gpu for sure... Maybe a 9800 gtx they are coming down in price or...if you can afford a gtx 260. If you dont want nvidia a 4850 or 4870 should do the trick... The rest of the build looks good..

GTS250 is quite the bang for buck nowadays.

9800GTX+, and cheaper.

Edit: Not cheaper, but same price, and I'd prefer the newer editions for future driver support.

I second, going with a Phenom II X3 720BE. You can save about £45 total from the CPU and mobo by doing that.

PhII 720BE
Biostar 790GX

Really either setup would be great but the 720BE is just as fast the E8400 and is cheaper. Although I hate to steer you away from a Asus P5Q Pro as that's the mobo I have and I love it. Still the AMD is the better buy. Then with the saved money you could go with a better GPU like a HD4850 or HD4870, upgrade another component, or pocket the savings.
