ARE YOU CRAZY. I will put my i7 against a Penryn at same core clocks. The i7 hold many advantages over the s775 CPU/MB. IMC, triple channel DDR3, Xfire or SLI, future proof more than the s775, it truly trumps in every way minus in terms of price. That being said the Q9650 is about the same price point, so i7 is a no brainer IMO.

Wow your posts are helpful. You do know how much better SLI/Crossfire scale on i7 right? Actually don't answer that

How about a q9550 o/c to 4ghz? I'd say go LGA775 with a very good GPU setup, rather than i7 w/ a mediocre GPU. Just my 2 pennies. Also, going 4gb on ram rather than 8gb might save you a bit of cash that you can pour on to a good CPU cooler. Just food for thought.

Hard to find Mega in stock, i'd have to do some searching. Also you'll need fans for these coolers, but they are the best.

Megahalems

TRUE Black

Yes those were at the top of my list as well. What about some monsters on this page I have a special interest in the Scythe Orochi, any experiances with it peeps?

*EDIT* Sorry for all above post I thought you were speaking of the i7 940 which would be a third of his budget.

The raptor is a waste of money for a gaming machine. All games load to memory so the speed of the drive only affects startup and level changes. You could buy 2 drives for less money and Raid 0 for the same performance as the raptor, IMO.
