A good quality 500-550W power supply is fine for a 95W CPU and a Radeon 4850. What kind of system are you building? Have you decided on i7 or Phenom II? I understand you're strapped for cash - but if you're looking for 1TB storage you might as well go with two drives in RAID 0. A WD Caviar Green 1TB is $100. You can get 2x Caviar Black 640GB for $140. Thats 1.28TB of storage plus you get double the speed and double the bandwidth of a single drive. Well worth the extra. I strongly advise going with two drives in RAID 0. Also - unless you're overclocking, you won't need any case fans at all. If you want to save; don't bother with case fans.

I found a 19" 2ms Widescreen LCD moniter for 139.99, and I'm pretty happy with that.
I decided on an i7. There's a micro center nearby and I can pick it up for at least 40 bucks less.

It's fine though. You're future-proofed now you can always upgrade your monitor later on.

A 500w, or even a good 400w would do you just fine for now, with the hardware you have spec'd out.Quote:

For 1000 bucks, you can get a pretty awesome Quad system, and I would if I was you. For your graphics card, you might want to get something beefier than a 9600GT. I bought one because it was cheap, and now I'm kind of regretting it, because there's a lot better for just a bit more. For the Hard drives, having two is for sure a good idea. On one, keep your OS installed, and on the other, keep all your Media such as movies, pictures, and music etc. I've been doing this for about a year, and it's very helpful.
