Core i7 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115202

This is a huge performance increase from your original build. The PSU, in my opinion, is much more solid, and the 4890/6GB DDR3/Core i7 outperform the C2D and 4870 by a large margin.

Hope this helps! I know it's a bit over 1k, but it will be less after mail in rebates.
I like this build actually.
Two things that have really been bugging me for a long time:
How high can the i7 920 OC to?
Which is better, a non-OCed 2.66 i7 or a 4.0 E8500 C2D?

Yes I live only a few miles from a Microcenter (w00t w00t)
How does the GTX 260 stack up against the HD 4890?

*EDIT*
I already have my OS disk ready, so also no need for that either!

4 GHz on air easy.
The i7 because of cache and its quad core.

Stepping is like a revision to the chip. With the D0 stepping it will overclock way easier and you should be able to hit 4.0GHz easily.
