Hey guys, I have been researching for this computer I want to build for a while, but I am still in need of lots of help.
__________________Here is my current build: Gigabyte EP45-UD3P MOBO ($135) HIS Radeon HD 4870 ($140) Raidmax 600W PSU ($50) E8500 ($185) XClio A380BK Plus Case ($130) G. Skill 2x2gb DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) RAM ($40) DVD/CD Burner ($25) and other various items (wireless adapter, speakers etc.) ($60) I already have a monitor and hard drive ready, so no need for those. Few questions: I was wondering if I should bring my processor up to a C2Q or an i7 even, but I heard that E8x00s OC really well, so I wanted to bring this one up to 4.0+ghz, can I do that with C2Qs and i7s, but still keep the price low? Do I need the 1066 RAM if I am going to OC pretty high? Is HIS a good company to buy my graphics card from? Do I need additional fans if I really want to OC (the case already has a 120mm, 200mm, 250mm, and a 360mm)? Am I missing anything important? Thanks for all the help!

You could get a Q6600, but that would be generally the same as a e8xxx for gaming. Do I need the 1066 RAM if I am going to OC pretty high? You don't need it, you can get 800 and OC the ram. Is HIS a good company to buy my graphics card from? Never heard of it. Do I need additional fans if I really want to OC (the case already has a 120mm, 200mm, 250mm, and a 360mm)? No you don't. Am I missing anything important? Yes, a heatsink, more important than those case fans. If you have the green, get a TRUE or Megatron, but if your short, get a Xigmatek S1283.

For $1000 you can easily make a decent i7 build. I haven't made any, so I can't recommend one. But if you live near a Microcenter you can get an i7 920 for $230 as opposed to $290 on Newegg.
__________________Also, why that Raidmax PSU? Can get a Corsair 650 for ~100, very worth it. You're wasting a bit of money IMO on the case and the mobo, unless you want SLI/Crossfire definitely for the future.

For just gaming and websurfing I would get something entry-level such as a E2140 and OC that, while keeping your current motherboard. When it comes to DDR2, I would stick to DDR2-800 as well.
*EDIT* HIS is a really good company. They make silent coolers for the ATI cards I hear. And the Raidmax PSU needs to be changed as Tainok mentioned - probably for a Corsair or Silverstone PSU, or just anything else that has been proven to be stable for a low cost.

You want a Phenom II Triple core for this build. Save money and gain multitasking.

If your just gonna game and surf no need to spend 1k on it! unless your doing some hardcore gaming.

So I should stick to DDR2 800?
__________________Is the difference between 800 and 1066 that big of a deal for tasks and OCing? Oh and when I said "gaming" I meant "intensive gaming". I really want to be able to play Crysis on very high, do you think that would be possible on this build?

Depends on your resolution. If its 800x600, by all means, but if its 1920x1080,maybe you're pushing it if you want an i7. If you stick to a C2D and get a pair of videocards in SLI or Xfire, it should handle "intensive gaming".

Here's what I'd suggest:

The PSU, in my opinion, is much more solid, and the 4890/6GB DDR3/Core i7 outperform the C2D and 4870 by a large margin. Hope this helps! I know it's a bit over 1k, but it will be less after mail in rebates.
