Well "Al the Great" from the forums here wanted to build a mATX rig so i helped her, as we are friends.

Ok Some quick question, does anyone know if the Zalman 8700 pushes air onto the cpu, or sucks it out?

Cause the PSU in a weird fashion pulls air into the case and straight onto the HSF, so if the cpu fan is pushing air away there is going to be a pocket of hot air.

Because right now we are getting 50*c on stock.

This was a refreshing challenge since it was our first time building an Matx. most frustrating part was finding a decent hsf that would support this case. after trying 3 different hsf we finally found the perfect one.

i would like to thank Blkkrow for helping me and Ocn for helping me get some of the parts.

The Zalman pushes air down

Ok thanks, We figured that out last night by taking out the psu and turning it on then we had space to feel the air. So the psu is blowing in Air onto the cpu.

Last night we also reseated the HSF and the temps are better now they are around 44*c idle.

Also we are getting 3, 80mm fans soon, that will hopefully also reduce temps.

Thanks, as said before the hardest part of this build was the HSF we tried like 4 different ones from Frys, but we finally got a winner.

gonna install windows 7 on this rig tonight

i also migggghttt upgrade to a 4870 but this sucker already runs hot as it is with a relatively conservative sized card so we'll see.
