Default Neighbour Build - Opinions Needed

Ok, so this build is for my neighbour. He has between 1500-1700 to spend (after taxes, which will be 7% from www.directcanada.com or NCIX). I do not believe he will be overclocking it, but this is what I have so far.

Intel Core i7 920
Gigabyte EX58-UD3R
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 6GB
Antec P183 ATX Tower Case
EVGA E-GEFORCE GTX 285
Corsair TX750W
Western Digital Caviar GP 750GB

The total before taxes comes to $1,620.29. I am looking for some places to cut some corners. He will be playing mostly Lord of the Rings Online for games. I believe he plans on getting a 24" monitor, so playing at 1920x1200. Any changes you would make to this? I am not too sure about i7 motherboards so I am not sure which one is all that great. Also, I haven't been keeping up with the graphics cards as of late, I just know i had an easier time with nvidia cards (in terms of software) when i had them. I might just get him a GTX260 instead. Thanks for any input you can give me!

Screw the i7, get an E8500 and an nForce board, then SLI two GTX260 216s. That'll really be hefty, and will kick the hell out of an i7 + GTX285. With the extra money get him some more storage, or dual monitors.

I think he wants a bit sleeker looking of a case, which is why I got him that one. He is in his 40's so I think gamer cases might be too "flashy" for him. I will look into those other 2 mobo's though. Thanks.

I figured I didn't want to get him older tech. I think it would be worth it if you are building a PC now to get an i7. The E8500 is a great CPU if you overclock it a lot, but he wont be. I know the E8500 with the sli 260's would kick the pants off the other combo, I will think about that. Thanks a lot.

*edit* Why didn't I put both those posts in one is beyond me. Sorry bout the double post haha.

The i7 is a waste, the e8000 family is fine and it isn't that old of tech. Not sure what he wants but even a c2q will be enough for almost anyone and be cheaper.

Why is he gonna go for old technology? and if he wanted an sli setup later on he can get another 285. And if needs a lot of storage why not get 2 640 wd's and set them on stripe.

Looks good. Another option is the E8500. The 3.16G is a decent stock speed.
