I would have loved for this setup to go in my black and red cosmos. Surely then I would have used some black or red coolant. This is going in my orange and black TJ-07 case, where there will be minimal lighting inside the case.. just barely enough to light up the blue coolant.

Ok after some preliminary testing, I love Core i7. It overclocks really really really well!

Running a stable 3.2GHz on the stock cooler for now. Temps are getting WAY out of hand. At stock clocks with the stock cooler at stock volts, temps are 48C idle. That's after I removed the thermal paste, applied AS5 and added a bunch of 120mm fans to improve airflow. I've ventured as far as 4.2GHz but was scared away when Prime 95 drove temps above 90C instantaneously. Once my Fuzion V2 1366 bracket gets in, I can start the real overclocking.

To 100%, and beyond!

Fuzion V2 1366 bracket and Koolance Classified block in, and as promised, the real overclocking has begun.

First, I removed the stock thermal tape off the VREGs and applied some Ceramique:

Then I swapped my 775 bracket off the Fuzion V2 and put on the much beefier looking 1366 bracket:

Then put on the Koolance block:

And after a few hours of work, victory is mine:

We (my PC and me) are nice and stable at a smooth 4.3GHz
CPU core: 205*21
Ram: 1636

your ram is giving my a boner! jk
very sexy tho
you should have no worries overclocking past 4.0 on h20
I'm running 3.99 stableon a cm v8 air cooler about 70 degrees celicius on stress testing little less gaming and idle 36. this coming from a first-time builder-newbie overclocker. I have a feeling you'll do better

enclosed a couple images of cpuz and real temp and rig

good luck and enjoy your i7

PS. how do you tell if your cpu is CO or DO -- doh!
and what is the differance?

Alright. Today was a tough day as I was teased by temporary 4.4 and 4.5 ghz stability, only to have my hopes shatered.

I did however discover that my processor is capable of doing 4.2GHz on stock volts, which was nice . These i7's put out so much heat that I'm beginning to think that I should run it 24/7 at 4.2GHz and use higher for benching. There is a huge voltage requirement increase going from 4.2 to 4.3GHz for the D0s (like 3.8 to 4 for the C0s).

Currently stress testing the 4.3GHz to make sure it's 1000% stable before moving on. Passed 5 rounds of Intel Burn test with all 6gb of memory, so I'm starting another loop of 40 passes and calling it a night. We'll see in the morning how it fared :/

Update - stable at 4.4GHz!!

Unfortunately, will have to reduce temps before I can go further. I ordered some 400/600/800/1000/1200/1500 sandpaper to lap the processor and some IC 7 carat thermal compound for the cpu. Hoping to get 3-5C from each of those for a combined 6-10C drop in temps. If that works out I'll aim for a nice 4.6GHz.
