Default cheap build ?

Alright guys,

I tried to buy a cheap gaming rig in the local stores here..

welll,

E8400: 1300-1800$
Q8400: 1400-2000$
i7 920: 1500-2400$

and that's with kingston valueram memory (talk about OC !), 9400gt, 500w antec psu, and very poor asus mobo. And even non-black HDD. No TRUE, no thermal paste..

Man, how come it's that expansive ? I have like 1300 buck, but everywhere i look, i can only buy **** with that kind of money. I don't want another athlon xp or a poor duo.

Heck, they dont even list 4770.

Just build by yourself at Newegg.ca or NCIX.com or Tigerdirect.ca, you can get an amazing system for 1300$.

I don't have your exact postal code so i could factor shipping in but here's what i came up with from newegg.ca. It's slightly over your budget but some items have "Free Shipping(not available in all states......)" There is also $85.00 USD worth of Mail in Rebates.

Here it goes.

$29.99 - ASUS 22X DVD Burner Black SATA Model DRW-22B1ST Bulk - OEM
$48.99 - COOLER MASTER Centurion 5 CAC-T05-UW Black Aluminum Bezel , SECC Chassis ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Retail
$99.99 - Western Digital Caviar Black WD6401AALS 640GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive - OEM
$209.99 - ASUS VW224U Black 22" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail
$233.99 - EVGA 896-P3-1255-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Retail
$95.99 - BFG Tech LS SERIES LS-550 550W Continuous @ 40°C ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.8 SLI Certified CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Certified ... - Retail
$143.99 - GIGABYTE GA-EP45C-UD3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
$319.98 - Q9400 + OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model OCZ2RPR10664GK - Retail
$139.99 - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 64-bit for System Builders - OEM

Subtotal = $1,321.90 (Before Shipping or Rebates)

Now there is no after market cooler for the CPU in the build because i figure it's better to get the better hardware in hand and pick up a cooler later. If you needed to Shave the build down in cost some there are some 1680x1050 monitors out there that are 19" and 20" however that is a great deal for that monitor in CA dollars especially after the mail-in rebate.

I hope that this at least shines a small ray of hope on your situation.

Thanks Bigwooly.

however....

Gfx card = crossfire 4770
mobo = gigabyte ep45-ud3p
vista 64 = 8 gb ram
hdd = western digital 640 gb black
psu = corsair 750 for future crossfire (4890, 5870x2 )
thermal paste
and a cpu heatsink. Vendetta 2 at 50$

well, you can see why this cost so much !

eh

oh and, newegg really does charge me 400$+ for the shipping.

and add 5-10% taxes...

but, yeah, let's face it: I guess ill be able to play on a frigin' sempron 1.6ghz with 1400$. ****ing ****.

Well you ask for build help on a new gaming box within your budget.......

If you have specific wants for a machine then please post them at the beginning of the thread so we don't waste our time speccing out a build. There's a Lovely Post Stickied in the Gen Hardware Section over @ the [H]

The box I Specced would game anything you want @ 1680x1050 and if you need to save some money on cost of the box drop the OS and run Windows 7 Beta (It's free)

Good Luck to You.
