Nothing worse than having this stuff and not being able to use it! I'll continue with pics but I need the light to improve. It'll be a pic of the monitor switched off! lol

OK, Lame pictures but the light has vanished!

I was pleased to see it comes with DVI cables etc as it says they're optional! I was shocked when I saw that as it seemed tight. But no...DVI and USB cables included and not just VGA.

Got this from ebuyer for £310. I would have preferred glossy black but the rose tint is actually quite subtle and non offensive.

It dwarfs my 20" Samsung SM206BW but it's not ridiculously big.

Checked the tracking on my GFX card and saw it was in the nearby depot waiting for charges to be paid. Rather than wait for the letter to arrive I rang them up and they said it was ok to go and collect now 30 mile round trip and here it is!

I probably sound like a right fool but I'm just excited for the stuff to start rolling in. All I need now is another one

Apparently you can run it with one without problems but if going extreme...two is recommended.

And yeh...buying all at once would have been great...it's just I would have had to save and I can't do that. Money burns a hole in my pocket

I hope this doesn't come across as anything other than excitement But my parts are finally coming in and I'm so excited I thought I'd log my progress as they arrive.

I have always built my own machines but this one is waaaaaay over due. And as I'm using it for video editing, 3D modeling on Maya etc I need to build a machine that will be great straight out of the box....and stable!

However, my GPU search led me to the 285 (which I will SLI when more cash comes) so I will be gaming on this...especially as I sold the 360 to pay for some bits

I WILL be OCing when I've gotten used to the machine and I WILL be going WC when I do start pushing the rig. So please don't flame me...this rig is to last and I have the headroom to expand There's no point in buying cheaper only to have to upgrade later on IMHO.

You will see in my sig v against the items I have paid for. They have started to arrive now and I'm really excited so please forgive me if this seems egotistical as I just wanted to share.

I'm very happy with my choices and I in no way just went for the most expensive for the sake of it. In fact...my researching has battered my head!

I'll just start posting pics of things as they arrive and then pics of my final build. If that sounds crap...let me know

Please note: I know a lot of peeps here think my rig is too much etc etc so there is no need to tell me "you should have gotten a 920" and "why go for the classified when you could have got a cheaper one" etc. I know this but there is method to my madness

Don't worry they won't kill you here for your build If you have the money then go for the best. But the best hardware won't last long enough gt300 is coming out and the 6 core CPU is also coming out next year so this is really an unending burning of $ if you will.

Yeh this is true. It's always been the way. The best gear is only so for about 2 months if you're lucky

Although the 295 would have been better than my card anyway.

I haven't bought it because it's the best though (even though it's not). Just the best for me right now (and my finances).

I haven't even got the HDDs yet and I'm eyeing up a second 285 I went for the 285 because I couldn't afford the 295. But if I buy a second then I may as well have! hehe

"must...ignore...the...fact...a...6 core...and...300...series...is...impending!"

I guess we'd never buy a pc if we worried about what's around the corner

^so true, the thing is youre rig is pretty future proof, id say it will play the latest games until atleast the next next gen console's, really a p4 can still cut it with most of todays software, and imagine how much it would cost if you bout your system of off alienware or someone like that! not a bad investment if you have the money
