Hi guys, my mother finally agreed to spoil me a little and get me some new parts for my build.
__________________I was excited so I rushed to find the parts I wanted and slightly researched the parts hoping I was making the right decision. I'm not really fussed if I have wasted extra money though it would be nice to know what I wasted on so I know for next time .Currently Build: AMD Sempron 3000+ @ 1.8Ghz stock | Stock HS ASUS K8V-VM Series Motherboard Maxtor 40Gig IDE HDD Master Seagate 500Gig IDE HDD Slave [NEW] Stock DVD-ROM IDE iCute ZL08 PC Case, Custom fans for airflow throughout the whole case [NEW] Cooler Master eXtreme Power duo 600w PSU [NEW] Palit 9800GT 512mb [NEW] What I've just ordered: Intel Pentium Dual Core E5200 $115.40 Generic IDE/SATA Bi-Directional Converter $35.80 Gigabyte GA-EP31-DS3L V2.0 Motherboard $120.40 G.Skill 1GBx2 DDR2 1066MHz Dual-Ch Kit (2x1GB) $67.70 TOTALING: $346.70 AUD Since I've been bottlenecking in almost everything I do, I've just about had enough of this computer. I needed the converter because I wasn't sure if the board supports IDE HDD's?!?!? Not much of a worry. Yes I do plan on buying a SATA HDD in a couple of weeks to mass transfer all this junk. I also plan on testing out Windows 7 on the SATA HDD. I want to replace all the old parts and chuck them all back into my old case for a secondary rig, leaving all the shiny parts for my sig rig. I hope I've done the right thing :P Leave comments please. Kind Regards

You wasted money on the converter. That board still supports IDE.I about 100% certian all motherboards still do.But otherwise everything looks good to me.BUt you could of went with a P45 board for the same amount of money which would OC better

Could someone tell me which p45 motherboard I can buy, I am still able to modify my order.
__________________The motherboard must be roughly around the same price on www.mwave.com.au EDIT: I've just looked up a couple of P45 motherboards and if I get rid of the IDE/SATA converter I can get this motherboard: http://www.mwave.com.au/newAU/mwaveA...N&sku=28022973 Should I do the swap-over? Kind Regards

Dude thats mad! Why didnt you tell me?
Check this: http://www.itestate.com.au/pages/pro...on&pcode=06317 The E5200 for $98. Opens a bit more somewhere else. Can't find a motherboard option as they aren't cheap enough. Good Luck, we need to organise the uber mod

If you could still change the order i would go with GA-EP43_UD3L - $172.00
Or if dropping the adapter gives you enough $ i would go with GA-EP45-UD3L - $206.60 or ASUS P5QE SE Plus - $205.30 Hope it's not too late

Yes, I have 2 IDE HDD's and 1 IDE DVD-ROM. I think I'll just grab the SATA DVD-ROM and leave my HDD's on the converter depending on how convenient it is...
