Time for some upgrades, and I don't mean the CPU or mainboard because that will come later. The budget is €520 and here is what I came up with so far:
Antec P183 ![]() I picked this case because it has a good bang for buck factor. I don't need a fancy looking case, just something that stops the dust and dampens the sound. Scythe S-Flex 1200RPM ![]() Going to add this as case fan. 8-Pin PSU extender ![]() To make sure my 8-pin cable is long enough. TRUE fan holder ![]() I'm using the fan clips now, then saw this fan holder. It seems nice. Asus Xonar D1 Low profile ![]() The D1 with PCI slot, no external power. Sapphire HD4770 ![]() The plain HD4770 version. Scythe Musashi ![]() To replace the ugly cooler. OCZ Freeze ![]() Some OCZ Freeze instead of the AS5. Total: €352 - money left €168. Other planned upgrade: ![]() Audio Engine A2B 2.1 speakers. But I'm €31 short for those anyway.

Thanks.
I'm still looking for some input and changes though, I'm not ready to order yet. If anyone has anything to add it would be most welcome.

looks like a nice plan
![]() dont kno much about sound cards but arent the creative alternatives cheaper for the same quality? as for speakers, i dont like pc speakers lol i got a 600 euro amp and 100 euro worth of real speakers to blow out my brains and fan mmm you know ther is an alternative, save your cash, tripple the airflow, and dead silent: use a transformer control panels cooling fans, which incidentally are being phased out so can get them for free if you ask the right people, with sum kno how you can make a nice housing for it (im busy doing that atm) and yes it is the fan in my profile pic, its about 17-20cm by 17-20cm big, but it is a lil thick at 3.5cm

And I'm not set on the speakers yet, but I was looking for something that sounds better then my Logitech X-230's. If the sound difference is minimal then scratch the speakers. About the case and fans, I'm not going to do any modding or cutting. It has to be build-and-go.

Are there any good wireless headphones? That would be nice. My current headphone is pretty good, but the wire always bugs me when I have it on.

as i said sennheiser is the way to go but they can be a bit expensive, but not a single of ther products (that i kno of)is sub standard, and BOSE is close behind, i dont kno of a specific model no. for you, ill have a look later
*they are primarily multimedia earphones so they specialise in playback, but they dont use cheap tricks so it wont screw up when you play games. soundcard and outputs (speakers/earphones) are equal, the one will limit the other and visa versa oh yeah doesnt the antec come free with a antec tri cool 120mmm? their adjustable and pump 80cfm

There are quite some different Sennheiser wireless headphones. I can get the RS-115, RS-130, HDR-120 or IS-410 (and maybe I missed some).
On the other hand, I'd have to deal with annoying batteries again

ther is always a catch, but yeah look if you get them you wont look back, to get the same quality of sound in a home theatre system your spending R60 000 (roughly 6000 euros!!!) and that honestly isnt even the same, what you can do is go to a music store or sumtin and they sometimes have demo kits for BOSE, go take a listen, and those arent being used with a sound card
anyway im off: time to write a test lol
