It is actually a C0, unfortunately and I did open the box. Is the main difference in overclocking? I was hoping to get it at around 3.6.

You'll definitely get that C0 to 3.6, but if you wanted 4 on air the D0 is the way to go. Most C0's I've seen reach about 3.8 pretty consistently on air, and a few good ones get 4.

So is 4 using a TRUE just not gonna work? Is it gonna take a lot of voltage?

I edited my post, you'll probably get to 3.8 no problem as well. You may very well get 4, but it's not as guaranteed as it is with a D0.

But even if I do send it back there's no guarantee I'll get a D0, right? I heard it was a crap shoot (about 50%) on Newegg, though I bought mine from Amazon.

If you want a guarantee, then you can surf on over to tankguys.com, they have guaranteed steppings for a little more money. It is kind of a crap shoot, you probably won't get one if you return your current one, as it'll probably be from the same shipment box or sumthin.

Don't get me wrong, the i7 is killer anyway you look at it, so 3.6-3.8 will be devastating. 4ghz just sounds so nice though....*cries because my POS board won't do it*

So has no one actually gotten 4 with the C0? Darn it...that was the magic number for me but oh well. I checked out some of the places that were selling a D0 for sure and they were like $25 more expensive and were sold out anyway.

Stop by the closest Microcenter if you can...just return and get your money back on the C0 even if you have opened the box. D0's are being manufactured a lot now. Shipments are coming in all the time. Make a call into places that sell i7's and ask them to look on the box and hold any D0 stepping they find.

D0's require less voltage to reach the same clock. You will be much happier with them.

I built almost that exact same rig for my boss, except we went water (FuZion V2, MCR320-QP, D5 vario, MCW60-R2 w/ GTX200 heatsink, Swiftech MicroRes v2), and we used a EVGA GTX260, and a Corsair 750W. Other than that, same board, same case, same RAM, and 2 640GB AAKS instead of AALS. Even used the same Blu-Ray drive it looks like lol.

It's a C0, and we were able to get it to 3.8GHz with hyperthreading enabled (he didn't want to disable it), but even at that, this thing is definitely a screamer. You will enjoy it!

No no lol, I said I couldn't get to 4, you might. Some people have, don't know who they are offhand, but I have seen some.
