Hi guys i am about to rebuild my rig and i am new to overclocking and even building. I am looking for some advice what do you think of my componants would you change anything like power supply or ram or water cooling.I want to overclock to 3.8 or 40 gig can you tell me any FSB, Ram values and voltages. Thanks for your help!!

Are you running 3 sticks of ram? If so, you should take 1 out because the third stick would hinder overclocking (dual channel board). Or add a 4th stick.

As for overclocking you should test it yourself, I'm not familiar with the 790i. Raise the FSB until it becomes unstable then add some CPU vcore. Don't take big jumps. Running the memory unlinked will help as well.

I'm running the striker II right now, the highest I got on this mobo is 3.9, and thats at 1.43v vcore, 1.72 nb core, and 1.70 sb core. My cpu is @ 55c with the load, the MCP is @ 61c. This is after tweaking different clocks for about 2 months now. Don't try this right out the gate. I might shouldn't be running @ those numbers myself lol.

If you haven't bought the mobo and CPU yet, I would stop right now and consider i7. An i7 920 would actually be a cheaper option in this case and be significantly faster. There is really no reason to go socket 775 anymore at prices like this.
