The ide Pioneer 117 dvd burner is fine. My suggestion would be to get a Antec 380 earthwatts power supply since that would be more than enough for your mom's pc. Even a Gigabyte ATI HD 4350 or XFX Geforce 8400GS, 512mb video card would be good enough unless your mom's into gaming.

Ever since I started getting all these new computers and things our power bill went up so we figured out the difference , and I pay that , at least it's not a lot though.
Which is fair enough for sure , but I do like the idea of quietness and efficiency.

What are some examples off efficient CPU's, and PSU's ?
And how do I know if the board has that RAID controller ?


I also just realized that board has an onboard video chipset too , I'mma take off the GPU.
But I never saw anything about RAID in the specs.

The earthwatt psu is like 80 bucks here, more than the original one , and there isn't any sort of combo deal for the canadian site

Well, on those things, you're on your own. I'm an AMD guy. Can get a tri-core processor up to 3.6GHz or so and possibly unlock a fourth core on a mobo/CPU combo that costs barely over $200(US) and it supports raid. So I really don't know what you'd be looking for in the Intel world.

(Not trying to start a flame war here, just saying it's beyond my expertise. I'm sure intel has similar options, I just don't know what they are).


Oh wait. I can help with the PSU, I guess. There's rating for PSU's. 80 certified means they are at least 80% efficient. There's also silver and bronze ratings, don't know what that means.
