Default Super Budget Build!

My father needs a new PC. He doesn't game. He surfs the web, streams movies online, watches movies. It's very basic and soon he'll be chatting through a webcam. I'm on a low budget and I would like to build him a cheap decent PC for his birthday. This is what I've gotten so far. it's around 500 but I was wondering if you guys can get cheaper things. His native resolution is 1024x768 and he's find with it. Thanks!

That CPU will not need to be overclocked to surf the web and 4GB of ram is not needed get rid of that cooler and find a cheap 2GB of ram. Get a cheaper motherboard. Open box / combo deal's are the way to go with budget builds.

For a basic build, save some money with this sweet deal that newegg has going on right now.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboD...t=Combo.194586

If he's not gaming, there's no need for that Artic CPU cooler. The stock cooler will suffice.
The rest of your stuff (320GB HDD, 400w Corsair, DVD Burner) looks just fine although the Antec 300 is a bit overkill for the build. I would get my dad a cheaper Rosewill or HEC case.

Note: With that 9600 GSO, you can ask your Dad to fold for team OCN

The combo deal comes with the Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor.

Also I noticed your DVD drive is out of stock.
Try this DVD burner instead

I missed the combo deal. I changed it, i was wondering if you can trim down the price? I don't want to spend that much money.

You can go with the Atom and really cut down on the price.

Here's my planed build for my family.

Add that video card if you want and you're good to go.
