This.

A $2500 i7 laptop won't really be that portable anyway, since it'll be heavy and have terrible battery life.

I built my sig rig, including keyboard, mouse, monitor (everything) for $2,600 at Fry's Electronics, I was putting all my components together on newegg and it comes out to be a little cheaper though.

I am impatient though, I like my hardware then and don't want to wait a week for shipping. I'd have spent $200-300 in 2nd day air shipping on the egg or go to fry's and pick it out and start putting it together right away for the same.

Plus I got to pick out my D0 i7, on newegg you can't do that. You get a random luck of the draw Processor.

VGA 1: EVGA GTX 280 1GB Superclocked $285
VGA 2: EVGA GTX 280 1GB Superclocked $285
VGA 3: EVGA GTX 280 1GB Superclocked $285
Optical: LG SATA Bluray Burner $180
Optical 2: LG SATA Bluray/HDDVD/DVDRW $109
HD 1: WD Caviar BLack 640GB $75
HD 2: WD Caviar BLack 640GB $75
