If you want mobility build a nice i7 main desktop for about $1800, then make a like small lan build for $700ish. Then you have both

Get a gateway laptop with a 9800m for like $800 and spend $1700 on a desktop.

You'll find yourself hating a laptop with that power, they are usually too heavy to carry around for every day use.

Get a killer desktop with a GTX 295 or a 4870X2 and a i7/Phenom II, and then pick up a good Core2Duo laptop, with decent graphics, such as a 4650 or 9400M
