Probably not. Macs are usually pretty slow to adopt the latest and greatest, and even then they don't go for the top-speed stuff. Or if they do it'll cost ya five grand.

Maybe by Christmas they'll have an i7-based MBP?

The new Mac Book Pros are amazing, they have 8hr+ battery life in a 5lb package.

No there wont ever be an i7 MBP, it will be i5 based whenever that chip is released, the i7 is too hot and too power hungry for a laptop.

There will be no new MacBook pros for about 6 months.

Apple's lifecycle for all products tends to be 4 to 8 months. Just last week, Apple released new MacBook Pros, so its totally new.

MacBooks are not terrible, they are just IMHO overpriced.

Do not spend a lot of money on a laptop. I bought a laptop 4 years ago (Dell XPS) for almost $4000 after accessories and warranties and whatnot and I regret it to this day. It was stupid.
