To be quite honest, i7 is not equal to a budget build. With the exception of the monitor, the build looks fine to me. For the future, you will probably want to upgrade the graphics card. I would wait until DX11 to upgrade it though. Congratulations!

He means that we saved money for a long time, and now we were looking to buy a good rig, but we had a very tight budget (could not spend more than 1600$)

I am very happy with this purchase,

Can you imagine ? From one core to EIGHT! (well, 4..) but hEY! Athlon XP 2800+ to an i7 !!!! IDE to Sata 2 !!!!!!!! USB 1 to USB 2 !!!!!

Man I'm gonna have a heart attack !

Future project: get another one like this one, then Samsung 24" screen, crossfire 4890 or better, 12gb ram

$1600 is a lot of money to work with. Anything <$800 I would consider tight. Not trying to be offensive, but you could have made the system more balanced and probably nicer with such a large budget.

Have fun with it...

Thanks.

Well in Canada the build was 1470$ish

I kept 200$ to be sure. It would have been 1200$, but taxes and insurance took some cash.

But man, from a 2003 computer to an i7... no matters the hardware, it'll blow my mind.

that cpu is soo overpriced. and for that also, you could have gotten prob a 19 or 20'' lcd for about $30 - $50. i spent almost that much on my future sig and still goin lol. but very nice. i know how excited u are. i am when all my things come in and cant wait to build it all up

Yes, and more so that I have an Athlon 2800+! Let's say that...technology has evolved a little bit !

Heck, I don't even have SATA2, USB 2.0, and PCI-E.....and those are like 5-6 years old!

I will be able to play recent games at decent FPS!!!!!!
