i sitll have an athlon xp2800+ and an athlon 1300mhz mobile.

Its not a new computer... we might not change the mobo. We'll see how usb 3 and sata 3 goes... let it mature.

However for SSD's, heatsink, case, fans, gfx card, ram... that's pretty much upgrades. I've heard that i7 loves low latency, so we don't know if we should keep the 1600mhz 9-9-9-24 ram and put 12 gb, or go with some 1600 mhz / 6-7-6 (mushkin) ram, or some 2000mhz ram. However since we don't overclock it 2000mhz seems overkill.

we'll probably swap the D0 for the gulftown 6 core/12 threads when it will be available..in D0. lol.

meanwhile we need to build another computer for me before december. amd 965 3.4ghz, Intel i7..we still don't know.

That's really overpriced, even though you live in Canada.
Yeah seriously, I bought my HIS 4890 for 180, and I think it was like 170 if I mailed in the rebate. None the less congrats on your new rig

First things first, don't post in all caps.

Secondly you should have made a new thread.

Either way, I wouldn't get a GTX295 right now, as much of an Nvidia as I am, the 5870 is on par with it, beating it in a lot of cases and will be $150+ cheaper than the 295 CO-OP edition, besides using significantly less power and being DirectX 11 compatible. The only real advantage the 295 holds is being available now, while the 5870 won't be available for a month or two.

Everything else looks alright, the new Intel SSDs are very nice though, but you can't go wrong with the WD Blacks.
